Biggest problem is that the QB throws a crappy under thrown pass, receiver has to backtrack to get the ball, DB runs into the WR. Flag on the DB. There should be no penalty if the call is under thrown. You shouldn’t be rewarded for throwing a bad ball

What makes the spot foul frustrating is that it seems to be arbitrarily enforced to keep drives alive leading to game changing scores or is ignored to insure a drive ends. The no calls are just as frustrating.
The spot fouls and the automatic 1st downs for a hold with a five yard penalty seem to be the hidden gems for the NFL to manipulate games.

No, the college penalty of 15 yards is a joke. When a defender is beat or an easy touchdown he just grabs the receiver and gives up 15 yards in lieu of a big play or touchdown. It’s quite obvious what they do. Saints DB must have thought he was playing college ball.

I think a tiered approach may be appropriate. 1st one or two PIs = Spot Foul, after that 15yd penalties
