I am driving into New Orleans from Pensacola, FL with four 10-yr old boys to go to the Saints/Cowboys game on Saturday the 19th.

As you guys know, kickoff is 7:20pm. Is there any where to eat that is:
1) family-friendly
2) within walking distance of the stadium (under one mile)
3) has a diverse menu (like a TGI Fridays type but does not have to be a chain...just has to have burgers and chicken tenders for kids..slightly better options for mom and dad)
4) will not have a one hour wait if we get there at 5:00pm.
5) entrees for kids $7-$10 and adults $15 +/-.

Also....if outside the dome is not an option....if we get there at 5:30pm is there a food court type of scenario inside where we could sit and eat without going to our seats? btw...I do not have club or box seats.

Thank you so much for any help.

No food court type of option inside the dome.

There are three places that come to mind for cheaper food within walking distance. Ernst Cafe, Lucy's, and possibly Gordon Biersch(food not great, but good selection for the kids). These places are all in the Warehouse District.

There are Food Courts in the New Orleans Center, right across the concourse from the Dome.

My advice would be to get there a little earlier and eat at Cafe Maspero.

There is a food court at the Riverwalk. It is about a 20 or 25 minute walk to the Dome, but it isn't a bad walk at all. Also, Mother's is right there on Poydras and I love to eat there when we are in New ORleans. Hope this helped.

Damn, man it has been a while since you have been in that area I take it?
That stuff never re-opened after Katrina.
There is talk that once the Hyatt gets sold/update and Benson gets rolling with his projects for the area, they will put in another kind of food court area.
It was nice to have that option before Saints games.

I don't know man. To come here and not go to Mothers? Must do. I would say the closest is right down Poydras, maybe two blocks from the Dome on the right side going towards the River. They do some tailgate deal before and after the game. For the life of me, I can't remember the name. Not like TGIF's though. You won't find anything to that in that area.

Yeah, it has been a while.

I wondered why they had that entrance all blocked off by the stage for the opener.

To the O.P. - please disregard what I said earlier. My mistake.

I still recommend getting there a little earlier and going to Maspero's, though.

I believe there are restaurants/concession areas inside the Dome that have everything you were asking about.

Mother's and Cafe Ernst are your best bets.

It might be worth it to get reservations at one of the hotel restaurants on Poydras..

Mother's is exactly 0.8 miles down Poydras from the Dome. It looks pretty cool. How crowded will it be you think on a Saturday night pre-game? I was thinking the big crowds will be on Bourbon Street.

Someone recommended Gregory Restaurant. Anyone else on that one?

btw...I hate chain food like TGI Fridays, Chili's, etc. I was referring to menu style more than anything. My wife and I prefer good seafood, steak, pastas...but there has to be the simple stuff for the kids on there like fried shrimp, burgers, tenders, etc....we will have 4 10-yr olds with us!

Cafe Ernst looks perfect...a tad over the mile mark. Good suggestion.

I looked at some of the hotels...but most every one has upscale restaurants...could not find something that fit. Perhaps I was looking at the wrong hotels. Good suggestion though.

There are a ton of spots on Peters the other way it seems...but you start getting to 3 miles of walking round trip. If I was not dragging a bunch of my sons friends around...and it was just family...I would go 5 miles round trip for a good meal !

That place has been closed since Katrina. There are NO food courts there now.

eat somewhere at the beginning of St. Charles. You can be done eating by 6 and still have time to park and walk to the dome...

That is a pretty long hike from the Riverwalk.
If you want a little shorter walk than Ernst, look at Lucys.

Ernst Cafe is exactly 1.0 miles according to MapQuest.

According to MapQuest...Lucy's is 0.9 miles from the SuperDome. Is this the Lucy's you are speaking of? LINK

Gordon Biersch at the bottom of the Harrah's parking lot. Will have just what you are looking for. In spitting distance from Ernst Cafe.
