Not only is the upcoming game against Atlanta the anniversary of us returning to the Dome, it is also the anniversary of this incredible moment from one inspiring human being:

I think it would be great if the dome were to be filled with 37 this upcoming night. There are jersey shirts sold on Gleason's website, and I propose that we all purchase these and show our support.

Thoughts?

I must admit you lost me on this one. I don't frequent this board much anymore thanks to it being overrun with Negafans, so what am I missing?

i am saying its a good idea to do something like this while gleason is still alive to see it. normally, honoring stuff is done too late after they've passed.

I think he was saying that normally, what you suggested is only done one a person has passed away.

I personally think its an awesome idea, and while i wont be able to attend in person, I assure you I will be glued to the TV for it.

I fully agree. It read as a dig at some other posters who may've been causing a ruckus lately. I guess that shows the level of disdain I have developed for this board over the last 2 years

I really would like to turn this into a movement though. Gleason has become a symbol of overcoming tremendous odds and obstacles just as overcoming Katrina was. The parallels are uncanny, and that HE was the hero of that night and has become the hero of our community makes this a perfect opportunity to show our support.

Let's get them working overtime to produce these shirts! Start telling everyone you know to do this, and let's broadcast to the world how important this night is and how much Gleason-37 means to us.

May want to reword that comment and add "normally" or "typically" to the sentence. It comes across as very insensitive.

There's not many of them to be sure.

You can easily find them as they are usually alone and ugly.

The Falcons franchise would not give permission to the Saints (reportedly repeated requests) for the Falcons logos to be used on the statue of the blocked punt.*

Class act all, you Falcons.

quote:

"That statue is not about football," Gleason, straining to speak because of the effects of ALS, said moments before the formal unveiling on a rain-soaked Friday afternoon. "It's a symbol of the commitment and perseverance that this community took on before that game.

Interesting. Then why do the Saints need the Falcons logo since Steve himself has said it's not about football.
Clearly it's a dig at Atlanta and trying to rub their faces in it from the Saints. So good for the Falcons to say no. After all, it's not about football.

That being said. I love the NOLA's support for Gleason. He's probably done more to raise awareness and money for ALS than anyone, ever. So...

This doesn't make sense.

If it weren't about football then the Falcons should have given permission. Problem solved.

It wouldn't have been a blip on the radar.

The Falcons exclusively MADE it about football, the artist was only trying to accurately depict the event.

The statue is not in the abstract.

Believe what you wish, we won't change each other's opinions.

Are you playing devil's advocate or being serious? I surely hope you are not being serious, because if so you just exposed yourself as a major tool. By your sentiment all artwork depicting WWII should never display the Iron Cross for the Germans since they lost, because history does not require the details.

Cause I f@cking hate the falcons and many of their fans (I like most of your posting DD) for as long as there is a nfl.

That's why.

Wait, which one of us is Germany? 'Cause I bet we have differing opinions on our answers.
