Elite OGs are rare to find, but they are nearly as valuable as elite LTs. Hell, I'd say they're more valuable than RTs
Lol no they are not. Nelson and Scherff were the last drafted guards taken high and were good to great players. The teams they have been on have not had much success. Interior guards don’t really make that much of a difference. If they are terrible, then yes they do.
There’s also a pretty high bust rate with taking guards that high. Remember Chance Warmsck and Johnathan Cooper? Both top ten, both huge busts.
Chris Naeole for old school Saints fans? Hell think the Saints would like to take back that Ruiz pick lol?
The Washington receiver you named was being mocked in the 2nd round by all experts. Redskims panicked because of all the receivers picked before him that you conviently failed to mention are all having success in the league, Wilson, London, Olave Jameson Williams…
2/3 of the interior 2023 pro team was taken in the 3rd and 6th round…
There’s no value in taking interior lineman that high or really in the first. Ruiz is a perfect example, and one of the reasons we are in the position we in. It’s poor asset allocation.

yeah because Jahan Dotson and Treylon Burks were such great picks over Zion Johnson and Tyler Smith?
And thanks for helping me make my point, Tyler Smith was drafted as a tackle…

Another big problem is the coach. If DA gets another season then he’s drafting in win now mode, not rebuild mode. His draft would allocate assets in a much different way than a new coach trying to build something different. Would suck to hand DA a top 5 pick.

Well we need lots of draft pics the next three years I reckon. Build the oline and build the pass rush and the rest will come along just fine.

I would love Tet McMillian. Exactly the type of big bodied WR we need to let Olave play in more space
