Lame Duck Dennis Allen
Posted by WhoGeaux

The Pete news makes sense, I still wouldn't be surprised once Payton gets his gig that the request is made to interview Pete. In that case the Saints could easily promote QB coach Ronald Curry.
Either way, I view Allen as a lame duck coach...and you certainly aren't attracting the best and the brightest with his track record coming off the type of year we had. For reference look at the coordinators Orgeron bought in his last year at LSU, nothing notable.
To sum it up, the best legit news I've seen come across this offseason thus far is that Ben Johnson pulled his hat out of this years HC merry go round. If things go belly up for Allen, Johnson is the HC I want. A young up and coming OFFENSIVE mind, what you had with Payton.
Otherwise, as sad as it is to say, ridding this team of Michael Thomas is pretty positive as well.

It’s going to be almost impossible to have another Payton for a very long time. I do think going for the young offensive minds is the right strategy but I doubt we are hitting on a coach again the way we hit on Payton

Saints bottom out, get a shot at a top QB in the draft, hire Ben Johnson as HC.
make it happen
make it happen

That would be only logic behind keeping DA.

I think that has to at least be in the back of their minds. Hope springs eternal, but let’s be real here…
We have no business going after big name FA this off-season when we have deeper issues and salary cap concerns. The 2023 Saints are going to suck, get used to it now because it’s happening. Hopefully worse than this past year so we can actually get a high draft pick in 2024. Maybe even 2 with a Payton trade. That’s when we make our move.
Let Allen lead that inevitable outcome then find your coach of the future when he actually has something to build on.
