Nobody can take credit for it. This was a no brainer as soon as the contract was signed.

It's just a matter getting the word out about how this cap stuff works.

so we owed him 12.5mil roster bonus. does this entire figure get off the books if converted into a signing bonus?

2.5 million would stay, 10 million would be knocked off this years cap.

Yup. Basically it gets prorated over the last 5 years (including this year) so $2.5m is added to each year(and the original $12.5m is subtracted from this year).

So this year that's a savings of $12.5m less the $2.5m for a total of $10m in savings.

We are going to do the same with Byrd, Graham, and possibly Lofton and that will get us right around the cap. Cuts and/or pay cuts are going to happen(since they aren't touching Brees).

And technically speaking redoing Galette's bonus puts us at about $10m over.

Doesn't Lofton still make at min almost 7 million?
Is he still worth that?
Anyone in FA better and cheaper?

Bunk and I think White gets cut along with Hawthorn.

They save $3m restructuring Lofton and I believe $4m cutting him.

I think they like him enough to keep him around one more year, especially since he's the only leader figure on that side of the ball.

Thanks. I like Stephon Anthony ILB Clemson in 3rd. Lofton or no.

Seeing Rey fall to us at 13. What ya think? backside pursuit looks good. Has good 1st step to QB and seems to be able to play anywhere.
