It's not hard to find backup qbs who lose the game when they have to come into a game.

Remember when we were losing to the Vikings 27-3 and then Derek left with an ouchie in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Jameis led the offense to 16 unanswered. Final score 27-19

JW wants a chance to start.
We need to save money.
I do not retract my statement. "It's not hard."

Jameis Winston, back up QB with same win % as our starter, $4million/year

Foster Moreau, 3rd-4th string/borderline practice squad caliber, 3year/$12 million= $4million per year

Winston almost threw 3 ints before finally throwing two. This game you're pointing to, he has a passer rating of 59.1.

And Taysom Hill gets how much as backup? Just cut Hill. He is old news now . Teams have figured out he is a gimmick . Give Winston a raise.

Yet he put 16 points on the scoreboard, while Minnesota scored zero. Carr’s QBR in that game was 23.0. He was outscored 27-3 in the first 3 quarters.
Final score 27-19

He did put points on the board, but it wasn't sustainable. Winston's biggest issue is taking care of the ball and that was really amplified this season. His int % was 6.4; his infamous 30/30 season it was 4.8.

And I'm not trying to run down Winston, if he gets that int % in the 4s, he's a capable backup

The amount of money we have tied up in Winston is a great example of the problems we have. He'll be gone this year or next. It's just a question of whether we want the separation to cost us 10M or 7M.

Jameis is 16-10 as a saints starter
Carr is 9-8
Winston wins at the same rate as Carr. This is not my opinion this is just the statistics. If you think Jameis sucks, you’re not wrong. He does. Guess who else sucks? I’ll give you a hint: he makes $34 million more per year than Jameis.

Winston has only appeared in 21 games as a Saint. He was the starting QB in only 10. Are you just making crap up?

6-4 as a starter.

Also, note he started 7 of those 10 games under Sean Payton in which he was 5-2. He is 1-2 as a starter under Dennis Allen.
