You make it seem like Rattler is an 8 year vet himself.

Exactly. Dude is been in the league one year, is younger, and more accomplished throughout his career yet we're gonna write him off for a 2nd round reach. Idiots

We wasted the pick period. This team needed another playmaker there. Rattler has shown he can play well enough with no line or receivers to throw to while the team rebuilds.

Shough has as many wins as Rattler does in the NFL with 0 starts. If 0-7 with 4 TD’s and 5 INT is accomplished, give me the unaccomplished one.

Those are good stats if you consider what he was playing with last year. Critical thinking is hard for simple minded people. I get it.

I’m simple minded, but you think that 4 TD’s in 28 quarters of football is considered good? I don’t care if you’re playing with kindergarteners, that is in no way good.

Guess you missed the game where he almost beat the NFC runner ups with scrubs around him

The game is about moving the chains. Rattler is better at it.

b/c if you are drafting a guy to possibly be your franchise QB, you'd like to have them for as long as possible... drafting a guy that will be 26 for the majority of his rookie season is not exactly ideal when thinking about building around a franchise QB... QBs typically begin hitting their peak at this age, so using the same time line as other QBs, taking 2-4 years to hit their peak, we are looking at 28-30 before Shough hits his... considering usual retirement age for QB is 35-37, with a noticeable decline 1-2 years before retirement, you are looking at 3-4 years of peak franchise QB play, AT BEST... that's not a long time, and THAT is why people are down on this pick... if he EVER gets to franchise QB level (not likely), it would be for a very short amount of time vs. normal aged QBs who end up franchise QBs

You are trying to explain this to a majority of posters who think that if a young/rookie isn't an elite, day one game changer then they are a "bust". The majority of them take time to develop & get to that point. The actual day one game changing rookie QB is RARE.

Your timeline nails it but you will be downvoted & debated over the simple fact that most fans have never experienced the Saints draft a QB as high as they drafted Shough. They want to believe so bad yet truth be told, they are the same fans who would have ridiculed the Bucs, Panthers or Falcons for making such a draft selection during the Drew Brees era.

100 truth.

Anyone that thinks Shough is better than Rattler where things stand today is a dumb arse. Rattler isn't Drew Brees and never will be, but to judge his career based off rookie season with scrubs around him and interim coach is retarded.

Yeah, you expect better numbers from a rookie QB playing along side a bunch of talentless scrubs? By the time Rattler came around to starting last season, the Saints were playing a bunch of off the street practice squad players at the skill positions because of all the injuries.

I just don’t understand this thought process.I think Shough should start, based simply on what my untrained eyes have seen. I totally understand the opposite sentiment and see why people think Rattler should start. But to say people are simple minded and retarded for having a differing view is ridiculous. So far this preseason:
Shough is 24/34 for 231 yards with 1 TD/1 INT
Rattler is 25/35 for 252 yards with 1 TD/1 INT and 1 lost fumble.

This board is so confrontational that any opposing views are met with such vitriol and condemnation instead of simple conversation. Neither choice is outrageous and there should be consideration for both.
