Jeremy Shockey (knee) said Thursday that he's prepared to play in pain if that's what it takes to suit up for the Super Bowl.
"There's no holding the reins back," Shockey said. "I'll do everything I can, even it that requires hurting myself, to win the game because you got a lot of time to rehab and things of that nature to get right in the offseason." Shockey missed practice Thursday and will likely rest until at least late next week.

Coach Sean Payton indicated that Jeremy Shockey received good news from his visit to Dr. James Andrews, and there has been no setback with the tight end's knee. Dr. Andrews looked at the MRI results, and the feedback was positive. Battling through a lingering knee bruise, Shockey will likely sit out practice until late next week. If he can't get close to full speed, the Saints may use David Thomas as their primary pass-catching tight end.

Jeremy Shockey mentioned that he traveled to "b'ham" a couple times on his Twitter page Tuesday. We're assuming Shockey was referring to Birmingham, Alabama -- which happens to be where Dr. James Andrews' practice is located. Shockey has been dealing with a knee injury and playing at well below 100 percent. He has an extended break to recover, but the Saints may be better off using David Thomas as their primary pass-catching tight end in the Super Bowl.
