I really find it hard to say that he is.

he is a good off cord. benson needs to break down a hire a def cord that is worth a shite. It dosent even have to be great one(NY def cord) just an average one. And the saints would be in playoffs yr in and yr out. 10-5 and 11-4 season every year.

I think he's a good head coach. We need a DC and some safeties.

i we get a new DC and address needs on D, then yes.

if he ignores the REAL problems with this team and focus' on offense in the offseason, then yes, he sucks balls

he's a glorified OC. We need a hard nosed, tough head coach who won't take any shite from the players and doesn't make poor player choices. He is creative as an OC but you can tell during games he gets caught up in the playcalling and forgets to be a head coach.

To me it's more than having a predictable defense that loses games for us.

It's a lack of fundamentals and seemingly no accountability for making mental mistakes. No one seems to feel pressure to perform.

On top of that his teams are soft and show a lack of heart at times.

Sean Payton's teams are like a fine tuned sports car. It runs like a dream on a smooth track but the minute things get bumpy it loses all momentum.

Mora was undone by two things (a) he too had a terrible Coordinator, only his was on offense. Mora was a great defensive guy and would have had some great teams with even a half decent OC. That said, they might not have done much better because (b) they were in the same division with the SF 49er dynasty. Bad timing....

So, how does changing coaches allow the Dirty Birds to go from worst to almost first? Evidently, coaching makes a difference. I will stop supporting Payton if he doesn't change DCs (sound familiar?)

I don't think he's necessarily a bad head coach. We'll see if he can make the necessary DC adjustment after this season. He's pretty much following Haslett's path at this point.

Until he realizes that there's more to being a HC than just throwing the ball, he will NOT be a good HC...we have NO running game and NO defense.

Our offense is generally beyond reproach, though perhaps we could upgrade the o-line a bit. The problem is the defense, and that must be rectified by overhauling the secondary and bringing in a competent defensive coordinator.

Haslett's first 3 years:

10-6
7-9
9-7

Payton's first 3 years:

10-6
7-9
8-8

If Payton's a good head coach, so is Haslett. I don't think many Saints fans believe that Haslett is a good HC, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say Payton's not.

Imagine Haslett's teams with a QB like Brees instead of Brooks.

probably not that great, part of Brees success comes from the system
