I love Taysom, but the switchblade experiment did not equate to playoff wins, period. Time to move on.

I think they are trying to see what’s going to happen with his recovery in order to see if it would be worth it to try and re-work his deal with a pay cut (if he would agree). I think that Taysom’s downhill running style works well for KM’s system, but it will depend on his health.

Maybe just lead with your opinion next time. Whether you agree or disagree this is one of the few off-season topics worth debating.

That’s the point Pete…..

You Don’t just spend money , in this case $10 million dollars, just because you happen to have it in the account…
Thats Freakin Stupid !!

Keep it in reserve… if a player appears later you might actually NEED… then consider spending some of the money.

Taysom’s leg was torn and he’s on wrong side of 30.

$10 million bucks so he can enter the game and run a few QB sneaks is bullshite !!

Embrace The Rebuild !!!

If that's true on the savings, do it . We have got to stop with the emotional decisions. Cam Jordan needs to go too

There are two home run threats on this team - Taysom and Shaheed. You don't get rid of a home run threat unless you're absolutely sure they can't do it anymore, or you find a cheaper replacement.

An 18m cap hit being your biggest cap hit is nothing. Find me another team where their biggest cap hit is less than 18m. Taysom's contract is nothing for this year, and cutting him buys us nothing. Who do you sign with the 10m that is freed up from cutting him?

Send him off with a parade and picks. Give him a chance to win a Super Bowl. Everyone loves taysom but saints are “going through changes.”

What is the advantage to releasing him?

It's not going to have an effect on the cap situation.

Its not as if the roster is so talented that the team just has to have that spot on the roster.

It'll save Gayle money, but that's it. It's not like she can transfer if to the Pelicans to use or anything. She's a billionaire, one of the richest people in the state and she has no family to speak of, she doesn't need the money.

If anything, you hold onto him. If he can play, the worst he could possible do is just not help the team, at best, he can help the team some or somebody trades for him and we recoup a pick.

God yes. 35 off a major injury. It’s only going to get worse from an availability standpoint.

The Saints could save $10 million if they cut Hill, but for once they actually don’t need the space since they’re around $23 million under the cap.

It would not surprise me if it happened; however, I do not see the benefit to the team to do it now vs waiting to see how his rehab progresses over the next 1 1/2 months. As stated in the quote, they have the cap space if they are looking to make a major move. And whether you cut him now, or the end of August you save the same $10M against the 2025 cap.

And either way his 2026 cap hit will be $9.7M.

However, if there is a slight possibility he can play before the trade deadline, you roll the dice and run him out there. There may be some trade value to a team like Denver; unlikely, but possible. And with $23M in cap space with his contract as is; they may be willing to take that gamble at the rate of $588k per game

Why not save the money for a younger FA

Any young FAs out there worthy of the full $23M in cap space the team currently has? Will they need the full $33M for the space now?

Where it will be beneficial is if they do decide to cut him and save the $10M in cap in 2025; increasing the cap room to $33M. If Loomis restrains himself, that $10M in cap savings by cutting Hill would actually cover his 2026 void cap hit of $9.7M.

I think they move on from him, I just don't think there is a need to do so today vs late August. I also see them considering seeing if they can muster up trade value.

For the poster that suggested a Ram final season; in order for that to happen, Taysom would have to agree to adjust his salary to vet minimum and a signing bonus (more of a restructure). The team is not in the cap hell they were when the Ram situation started going downhill, so no need for that if they believe this is truly his last summer or season with the team. That would only put more of a strain on the future cap when they have the room to sit him in the medical tent all year if they decided to keep him around and have him not play

How am I a race baiter dumbass? Because I acknowledged some of Taysom’s popularity comes from him being a white guy? Yea it’s rare to see a white guy run like that and be that athletic in the nfl. News flash, athletes get popularity for all sorts of attributes, including race. Especially when that attribute sets them apart from the norm.

But of course you had to turn it into something more than it is. Karen

How would you feel if this were reversed talking about Alvin Kamara? As a precious black boy.

Also this is a dumb fricking point because Kamara being black doesn’t set him apart from the other nfl running backs so why would this gain him any extra popularity? I really don’t care what you call Kamara because I don’t get offended like you.
