well Brees was super bowl XLIV MVP and had an incredible game by any objective standard. It's not like he was along for the ride. shite in the second half you just knew every pass he threw was going to be a completion.

It adds to his legacy.
He's great even without a Super Bowl win, but that really pushes him into that all time great category.
But people like Bradshaw and Aikman are so overrated because of Superbowls. Neither of which were close to Brees' level. They were on great teams. Brees = stats + a ring
Aikman and Bradshaw = rings

Indeed. I'm not following what you are getting at.
I'm just saying that winning a SB doesn't make you top 10. Nor does losing them or not playing in them.
Bradshaw was a 2 time SB MVP as were Eli and Starr. Aikman, Rypien, Doug Williams, and Phil Simms all won one. It's a one game award.
A SB MVP award is a small part of the resume'.
I hope people will try not to "go all Saints" on me. I like this board to talk NFL, but my username throws people into a needless tizzy (not saying you) from time to time.

I didn't read the thread. How is it 6 pages and who is trolling it?

I agree to a degree. To compare the 70s, 80s and 90s to today is not fair though either. The game was not the same. Defensive players were not playing with handcuffs on.
And to be clear, I am not saying Bradshaw or Aikman should be above Brees by any means.
