Do we know ahead of time which seeds play on Saturday and which play on Sunday?

Last year the 3 seed played on Saturday with the Seahawks and Lions. Wasn't sure if they switch every year just based on matchups or what?

It's a TV choice deal. Fox and CBS will choose the games they want Sunday, then NBC gets a pick and ESPN gets the last game left for Saturday.

More than likely, Fox will want the L.A. Rams for Sunday so there's a pretty good shot NBC takes the Saints for the Saturday night game.

Seeding is irrelevant in regards to day/timeslot.

FOX will almost certainly put the Los Angeles market into their Sunday timeslot, and the NFL would do any flip-flopping necessary to accommodate that being the later game.

This would relegate the Saints to NBC (or ESPN?) on Saturday. Not sure if NBC gets both Saturday games or if they split with ESPN.

This is my take as well, only thing I'm not sure of is can both NFC games be the "late" games? That seems kind of unfair to the AFC but maybe the NFL overrides and mandates that the networks have to do what is best for the league (within reason).

The ironic thing is that a Saints/Falcons or Saints/Seahawks or Saints/Panthers game would probably draw better ratings than a Rams/Panthers or Rams/Seahawks or Rams/Falcons game, but the NFL is dead set on propping up and promoting that NFC market (see the FOX crew having the pregame and ingame broadcasts live from L.A. during the Eagles game a few weeks back).

I could see some bullshite rigging going on to get the Rams in the Super Bowl. LA has like 15 fans, you know the league wants to increase that.

Irregardless of timeslot...it's most likely the Saints will be on Saturday?

Wow I just heard from someone who knows network people that CBS has the Saturday night wild card while NBC has a Sunday game. So it's looking like noon Sunday for Saints on NBC followed by Rams on Fox. Glad I asked.

This both makes sense and also seems hard to believe.

Having both AFC games and NFC games on the same day is more of a scheduling aberration than having both NFC games be late games IMO.

We've seen a lot of TV changed like cross flexing to meet network needs in contracts.

I can see it being
Sat afternoon Titans/Chargers/Bills vs Jags
Sat night Panthers vs Saints
Sunday noon Ravens vs Chiefs
Sunday 330 Falcons/Seahawks vs Rams

They played both AFC games on Saturday and NFC games on Sunday in 2016. It’s not like it can never happen.
