then Goodell and the NFL have fricked themselves when all the talk of lawsuits about concussions etc. come to fruition.

If this was such a terrible danger to players and their safety, how on earth did it take THREE YEARS for the NFL to do something about it???

It seems as though it would be a clear breach of duty on Goodell's part to simply make a couple of phone calls and say "Hey you guys better not be doing that, or you better stop if you are".

He should have been all over this from Day 1 and handing out immediate suspensions and fines if this was truly a player's safety issue.

Making a few phone calls and then not doing a damn thing for the next almost 2 years while players were being exposed to such danger week after week would indicate a clear shirking of the NFL's responsibility to me.

Good luck in court Mr. Goodell.

If it was so important to players safety why did they wait till Payton picked his team and had his time in the headlines before they hammered us. Its all about the money.

If it's about player safety why weren't the giants penalized for deliberately "taking out" Kyle Williams. He was "targeted" due to his past 3 concussions.

Also interesting that the NFLPA was specifically denied any input or oversight of the investigation.

You would think player safety would an important issue for the NFLPA to weigh in on.

VEry interdasting.

If this happened in Dallas or NY, they would got something slightly worse than the N.E. punishment. thats it.

As most cases in life, the cover-up is worse than the crime. This is the case here as well.

My only problem is Goodell using player safety as the reasoning as that makes absolutely no sense. It is bs.

Now if it is the lying and cover up then I am fine with the punishment as long as he stays consistent in how he issues punishments, but I doubt it happens.

Right on roadie. I didn't see that thread back then, but you hit it on the head.

The reaction by Goodell and the NFL is actually the best proof that this isn't about safety.

Of course, the fricking braindead media has never once pointed out this obvious contradiction by the league's own actions.

fricking worthless, brainless, spineless, dickless, clowns getting paid to stir up big headlines.

And 4LSU2, please, feel free to post in every thread of mine as long as your avatar pic is unchanged. :

Exactly.

And that is his real end game.

He (and the owners) wants the 18 game season desparately. The players will never go for that in the current climate, as was shown in throughout the lockout.

The only way the players will agree to it is if the game becomes so protected that they don't have to worry about the same wear and tear on their bodies, which means limiting contact.

That has been Goodell's primary motivation for the big fines and suspensions on players like Harrison all along under the guise of "protecting our athletes".

He wants less contact so that he can get the players to agree to the 2 extra games and the financial windfall that will come along with it.

If concern for the health of the players was so important, then why did the players have such a fight when trying to gain extra health and retirement benefits during the lockout?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$

There are reports of the NFL bounty programs longer than three years ago. I know I read where Tony Dungy accused Greg Williams (under Jeff Fisher) of having a bounty on Peyton Manning during the 2000 season. So this shite stretches way back (by several players admonition during this whole bounty gate scandal).

It really sucks that the Saints are being jacked around like this when other teams did the same thing. I guessed they fricked up because they covered up. I'm also under the impression that Payton did not think that this pay for performance was that big of a violation. So he let GW do what he has always done and what the league has always allowed GW to do until 3 years ago.

I love my Saints but there is so much anger inside of me toward Goodell that I hope the NFL gets slapped with billions in damages from these head injury lawsuits and Goodell gets taken down from his high horse. I can't stand that bastard.

This whole scandal seems to follow GW, the Saints are the NFL's scape goat.
This situation is going to turn really bad this year, if they think the paid hits were bad, wait until they see the payback hits.
