It tells you everything about how bad this organization really is.. idk how we even get to .500 next year and so on. Our roster and cap space is horrendous. Absolutely, no excuses for Loomis to still be around.

Mickey is (today, at least) an essential part of the succession planning once Gayle passes away. Kinda hard to unwind that.

Loomis should have bit the bullet on the salary cap issues when Payton left. Instead, he choose to overpay for underperformance. He needs to go as soon as possible.

I'd give him a pass for the first year, since they were 9-8 and a year removed from a multi-year stretch of 11+ wins. But once you saw this team was a .500 team at best, you had to know they were not 1 player away. And definitely not "just a QB away". 2022 should have been the beginning of the cap fix, then you could probably justify keeping your buddy DA around for a few more years.

Now you bring in a new HC, and you have to "get him his players" and start screwing up the 2030 cap.

Gayle will live another 15-20 years. No need to keep him around for that.

Mickey will be involved with the team as an ownership role, but Randy Mueller is going to be more of the GM.

He won't be fired, best you can hope is that he assumes a higher level position, Saints/Pelicans organization CEO/CFO/executive manager type position, giving someone else that Saint GM position, though that may be Jeff Ireland which would seem like more of the same, maybe.

Of course I also thought DA would not be fired either so who knows.
