On additional cities to visit while in area. Besides Iceland, first time in Europe. I would like include Normandy on a 7-8 day trip
ChatGPT recommended Amsterdam, Geneva, Belgium…
I keep hearing Paris is a dump and so is London. I’d like to do 1-2 days in Paris for main attractions but rest somewhere else. Would love to do London for an EPL game is schedule works out.
Itinerary is open obviously, Normandy isn’t a must, nor is London for better places.

Paris is not a dump. I consider it my favorite big city to vacation in.
I enjoy London too.
And the two are easily accessible to each other by the Eurostar train.
We took a wonderful vacation in 2019 just weeks before the 75th anniversary of D Day.
We flew in to Paris, spent a few days there, and got a rental car and drove to Normandy. We spent about four days in Bayeux. From there we toured the Normandy beaches and took a day trip to Mont St. Michel. Then we drove back to Paris for a few more days.
That is my recommendation.
We are also planning to make that trip next year. My wife tells me that if I had any sense I would skip the football game.

Anyone telling you Paris is a dump is retarded. Went this summer with my wife and kids and we had an amazing time. If you make the slightest and I mean the SLIGHTEST effort to greet people and say thank you in French the people couldn’t be nicer. Take the train to Versailles when you go and see the town and palace.
London was pretty awesome as well in certain spots. It was just so insanely crowded it took away from the experience. I liked southwest London a lot. Area around Chelsea and Fulham’s stadiums. Took my youngest to Arsenals stadium as it’s right on the tube line.
I definitely want to go back to both but I’d rather see Paris again before London and probably more of the UK/England as well.

There is the see it all as fast as I can or the stay a couple days in spots and explore.
7 days?
I might spend two for sure in just Paris alone then head to the Beaujolais country the Rhone and Burgundy region around Lyon. Cause from there I go to Geneva and the Matterhorn. Then the Dolomites of northern Italia and Milan.

Spoken like someone who’s never been to either and get their world view from low IQ baws who hang out in the For You Tab on X
With only 8 days, focus on Paris/London and forget about everything else.
Two of those days are travel days
Normandy is a full day
Saints game is a full day
So you’re down to 4 days…
That gives you 2 days in Paris and 2 in London. There’s more than enough to see in those two days depending on your interests.
Leave your pre conceived notions at home, don’t be a dick, and you’ll have an amazing time

Mate, you live in the Baton Rouge area and you’re worried about Parisian pick pockets?

I wouldn't try to move around so much. Would try to spend more time in one place to see more. I plan on going to Paris as well. I've been to Europe past 2 years and my biggest regret was trying to move around too see as much as I could

Not in the least. I found a lot of that stuff to be tremendously overblown by people looking to find that or wanting to proclaim Europe dead. They had a couple of sub Saharan guys selling cheap trinkets by the Eiffel Tower. I simply said no thanks and they didn’t say another word. That was the extent of my interactions with anyone the poliboard would freak out over.
You very likely interact with WAY shittier people on a regular basis.

I was told by at least two ppl who have recently went. Why don’t you give your opinion on your personal experience instead of you yourself being a dick. Was told two of the dirtier cities in Europe, hence why I’m on here getting other insights, not judgements.

Dirtier cities in Europe compared to what?
There are lots of threads on London and Paris on the travel board that will provide much better advice, I would start over there.

Honestly, if i had only a week, and one of those days to be spent at the saints game (I would skip it, personally and see if you can go to a Ligue 1 match instead) I would just stay in Paris; in one week, you will just be getting the hang of it, you won't see nearly all the things on your to do or to eat list
