If that pay cut kept me over 80 million dollars on my contract/ over 10 million a year and my company would benefit and we could win the world title at whatever we did. And i had tons of other money form sponsors and my own investments.

Yeah, i would.

The ppl blaming Brees' contract are ridicolous. For 5yrs he took a massive discount. Id have to look it up but he was anywhere from 12-16 on the highest paid qb list for 5 yrs

You're not guaranteed a world title even with a pay cut.

And you're not guaranteed money when investing. Ask mark brunell how'd that work out, chief.

Again, he took a discount for 5 yrs and we won one and should have got another one last yr. goes to show you it's not guaranteed.

I'm not blaming his contract, I'm blaming him for not playing up to it.

Massive discount huh? Pretty sure he needed teh Saints to even stay in the league.

i agree

I agree, but if you make good ones, you will make money. For example, Drew Brees is raking in money with his restaurants.

I agree with all this. The simple question was would you take a paycut if it made you less than the market value. I didnt look at it in terms of brees. Personally, If i was still making over 10 million dollars a year, yes i would take the paycut if i thought it would help my team/ comapny.

Yea pretty sure it was a massive discount because he could have easily held out for elite money at any time during those yrs and would have been paid for the level he was performing at.

So yea, I would have say massive discount.

so we owe him for honoring the terms of his previous contract? how nice of him to accept $60 mil at the terms he agreed to.

Has anyone called the OP out on this to find out how/why he knows the business well?

Probably not. They lost last night and are probably upset at their performance.

What's the argument here? Are you trying say we are in the position in because of brees' contract? Or are you just stating how selflish of a person you are to saints board?

So he played up to his contracts value last night? The other games we lost, Brees could have done absolutely nothing to change the outcome of those games?

No, but you owe him for being an elite qb and he is being paid for what market dictates for elite qb.

So you want to let Brees, our best player and one of the best players in the NFL, walk this offseason? How much better would we be then? How many games would we have won this season without Drew Brees? Why aren't you mad at overpaid guys like Harper and Smith who could take a pay cut to bring in better players? For that matter, why aren't you upset at all the players for taking pay cuts to bring in better players?
