I don't think there's any video under that replay hood...

... because that's the only logical explanation for these challenges being upheld.
You'd think that after all the hoopla last year, these refs would be screened better. Time to thin the officiating herd before regular season starts.

The NFL has no problem making rule/equipment changes for players... I guess the league needs to adapt its equipment for this new rectal-centric trend in officiating.
Seems to me something like this...

i loved listening to the announcers saying its a no brainer and then the refs come out and they are just like "uhhh or not..."
whats the point of instant replay if it doesnt do its job? poor payton, his challenge record is terrible

I think they got the first one right. He did have control of the ball but before his elbow hit the ground the ball hit his shoulder pad and started to come loose. As far as the other one i don't know what they were looking at it. His foot was definitely in contact with the sideline. I don't mind Payton challenging either play they were both close. Hopefully though in the regular season with only making a difference of 9 yards he would save that challenge for a more important time.
