Create a hexagonal system where grass can be grown on it, and the platforms can be removed after the game for maintenance and for other events.

Houston at one point was growing real grass on trays and transporting them in. The seems caused a couple big time knee injuries. It was also very hard to get the trays consistent. Some were hard and some were soft, it was generally inconsistent for the players. Many in the NFL complained about Houston's field and they went to artificial turf.

Trays that they move in an out and grow offsite is the only way I could see the Super Dome getting a grass field but I'm not sure if the technology has been improved upon since it was used in Houston.

It's called the injured reserve list.

Not only that but how is the grass going to look in place like Green Bay and Chicago in the wintertime?

You can see for yourself.

The link is the Bills v Bears game last year on 12/24/22. The temp was 9.

The field "looks" ok. But you can tell it's just matted, frozen dirt/grass. Chicago is wearing white pants...and there aren't a whole lot of grass/dirt stains on those pants. That's because its just a frozen patch of earth.

Of note, the NFLPA bitched about the turf in the preseason of that same year.

The bottom line is this is a gross overreaction because a prominent player, in a prominent market, for team who had been hyped up by the NFL all offseason, was injured 4 plays in to the season. It it were Jimmy G injured on a turf field you wouldn't hear ANYTHING from the NFLPA.

Arent there a few indoor stadiums that dont have artificial turf?

Reliant Stadium in Houston used a grass surface for several years. Always seemed to me that they kind of pussied out after the "cool" factor had worn off. They started bringing in a rug for high school games after a few years, and a few years after that they ditched grass for Texans games.

The Northeast is hard to keep natural grass perfect in the winter months. Look at Green Bay field in December. Anyone want to play on that?

They could do it and do it well if they put the resources into it. Not advocating for it but it's certainly possible. Look at some of the soccer fields in Germany, Scotland, North of England, etc that play in the coldest months of the year. They're in incredible shape. Just expensive.

I have yet to see any definitive data that states that turf is proven to be any worse than grass in the role it plays with football injuries. This is not soccer. The torque and resistance involved in the hand to hand combat of blocking and tackling makes football uniquely unqualified to be compared with soccer regarding injury stats.

This coming up in response to the Aaron Rodgers injury is absurd. Just a regular old knee jerk over-reaction learned from politics.......dont let a tragedy go to waste. The NFLPA should be ashamed of itself. The NFL should tell them to KICK ROCKS!!!!
