Peat's contract is up after the year.
He already has a 13 mil cap hit un 2024.
At this point the Saints have to be thinking about giving him another couple year deal.
They don't have another lt on the roster. Will be interesting to see how they approach it.
He will be 31 at this time next yr.

This is one damned if you do, damned if you don't moves. As you pointed out, he already had a cap hit of $13.6M due to the voided years, but if they can extend him before the new year that number could be reduced to $7.3M + his new deal. Then if you look at the average starting LT contracts, they are looking at ~$15M a year to get him to middle of the pack; which would then be $22.3M next year.
So, do you take the $13.6M hit and bring on a new LT, but at what cost.
Or do you extend him and bump that number up to $20+M a year and roll with him.
"OR" do you Loomis the shite out of his contract and have his 2024 cap hit around $10-15M, but find yourself in the same situation when he's 35?

they will give him a much bigger deal then he is worth, something that will ensure we cant cut or trade him because of the money
