1. Saints win SuperBowl 4 years after Katrina with a bunch of players rejected by other teams

2. Miracle on Ice

3. Red Sox finally win World Series

4. Seabiscuit

5. Miracle Mets

6. Namath's guarantee.

What am I leaving out?

As much as I love what happened with the Saints this year, it is hard for me to grasp it as the greatest American sports story of all time. Now, if they had won the Super Bowl in 2006, that would have likely been #1. But, 4 years later, this was a really great team that started 13-0. It was hardly a miracle, despite the lack of respect that the media gave.

I didn't like that story. They are from boston, not ny or dc. Who cares what their name is. It's just a meaningless connection, and did nothing for the cities that were actually attacked.

I would rank miracle on ice above the saints.

Maybe not a great story but a cool fact that the team that won that year was the patriots

Can't argue with that one. Just biased and euphoric right now. It probably meant more to the country as a whole, but not on as big of a stage.

Jury's still out how far Saints resonate. Every man, woman, and child in the US was awed by the Miracle on Ice.

1. US Hockey
2. Red Sox
3. Saints
4. Tiger Slam
5. Michael Jordan finally winning
6. Nicklaus @ '86 Masters
7. Dan Jansen
8. Secretariat
9. Mets
10. Tiger's first Masters

Take the damn Red Sox out...what the hell is so great about that.

Because they sucked all those years. And the finally win one??? Who cares?

Hell...lots of teams have never won anything.

If it weren't for katrina, that would basically be our "great" story...

spare me all the "if my aunt had balls" comments. There has still been a shite ton of talk about the saints and their 43 years of losing. If you don't think that's part of what makes our story great, then you're in denial.
