No, the Saints are bad at evaluating talent. Want proof? Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Khari Fortt, Nick Toon, Martez Wilson, Johnny Patrick. Arguably, we can say the Saints aren't good at developing talent either.
The last Saints draft that had a lasting impact of more than 1 or 2 players sticking around was the 2006 draft.

They won't. They prefer what they do.

Sean worked him out personally. Not sure what he saw that day. I remember the reporting was that he wasn't that awesome. Yet they drafted him.

Sign Jake Rudock off the lions practice squad. He's played well this preseason.

Such lies.
Its well known that CSP pleaded with Loomis at his castle not to take him in the draft. But Loomis boomed a hearty evil laugh as he tossed his wine in Sean's face..."ha you petty mortal tis I the grand Loomis who picks the QB's around here. Now fetch me my slippers dog".
That is how it really went down. True story.

So in two straight drafts the Saints got absolutely nothing out of a second and third round pick. Do people actually trust this front office to sign and trade Brees and actually do something with the resulting first round picks?

A 3rd QB, is a luxury item the Saints can’t afford right now. Could see Saints signing Grayson to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Its not that Grayson was a failure (he could be), it's that there were more pressing needs elsewhere. Which speaks to the overall failure.

I find the Saints have had a lot more success in late rounds/undrafted at finding value, especially at the running back position in the Payton era (Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, Joique Bell, Khiry Robinson, Marcus Murphy, Daniel Lasco).
Drafting Marques Colston in the 7th round back in 06' was a god-send. I remember when he was first drafted, they were projecting him as a TE because of his size. Went on to be Saints all-time leading WR.
The Saints also show a tendency towards drafting players from small schools that have had success. Including the aforementioned Colston and Ivory, Jahri Evans (Bloomsburg), Terron Armstead (Arkansas Pine Bluff), Jermon Bushrod (Towson) and currently David Onyemata (Manitoba), who I think will be great player.
But overall drafting over the past few years, the Saints have struggled, absolutely agree.

I said that in another thread and got crucified. 2015 is looking fricking awful.

2015 draft is when management officially ended any chance of another run with Drew. fricking Peat in the top half of the first round, a guy with fricked up knees in the second, and a shitty QB in the third.
Pathetic

Doesn't matter who the saints sign or don't sign cause they won't be sniffing the playoffs anytime soon

FWIW... the Grayson roster spot will more than likely be taken up by Jahri Evans
trying to sure up the O-Line

Hunter managed six sacks across 426 defensive snaps as a third-round rookie last season and received extremely high marks from Pro Football Focus for his run defense. With LE Brian Robison going into his age-33 season and on the obvious decline, Hunter could play even more opposite RE Everson Griffen.

Who do you remembering wanting or thinking then? Eli Harold was pretty high on many boards. He hasn't shown much in SF yet. Tre Jackson was ranked higher if I recall.

You have to admit, there was hope that this would be a good draft to help. Outside of Peat, you have 3 defensive starters this season (Anthony, Davidson, Williams). However, overall, only 1 year later, it seems to be trending to underwhelming at best.

Come on man. There are 64 1st and 2nd round picks each draft and nearly 700 undrafted free agents each season.
