Getting under the cap

You money/contract guys help me out... where are the obvious moves and how much will they trim? Basically I'm wondering if there will be another cap casualty like Hendrickson

Underhill broke it all down. It’s doable to clear 80-90 million with just restructures and not cutting anyone.
Will there be casualties and changes? Yes. Always.

The most obvious...Bradley Roby being cut. $0 in dead money with a cap # of 10.1 mil.
I guess we could also restructure him, but cutting him loose will be very easy.

The cap is also going up by a lot.
We are fine.

It would be great to keep the defense intact. Roby, I suppose wouldn't be a huge loss though.
Is armstead done here you think?

This is the important question that only CSP can answer.
I'd like to keep him, but I think some other team will overpay for him. He deserves good pay, but not elite pay...due to him being injury prone.
Some team will probably be desperate enough to overpay for him. Hopefully CSP can work some magic & convince Armstead to stay here for a fair price.
I wouldn't pay him what his market value will probably be, b/c I think his market value is too high due to his age/injuries.

Haven’t spent a lot of time looking it over (also not one of the experts on here), but a simple thought is the fact that most of the team only has 1-2 more years under contract. Start working extensions on anyone up after 22. Anyone w a contract through 24 or later, turn some of the cap hit into roster bonuses allowing it to be spread over 5 years.

Was it in a Tweet or an article?

Both. But there’s an in-depth article on no.football.
Armstead is only 30. Seems like he would be older. Pretty young for a tackle. And the Saints will pay him 13M whether they re-sign him or not…will be interesting.
