#15 Saints QB shown on a Merlin Olson video clip dating from 1967 - the Saints very first game, the pre season game vs the LA Rams in Los Angeles.

Buddy D used to love to tell the story. In 67 he was the host of the Gary Cuozzo show. A couple of weeks into the season he was doing the only show in the country with a second string qb after Billy Kilmer took over. A couple of weeks later the show disappeared.
Years later when Kilmer would see Diliberto he would say “Hey Buddy, are you still doing the Gary Cuozzo show?”

My Mother and my Aunt used to work at the RC Cola bottling plant near the CBD in New Orleans. They employed many Saints players during the offseason that didn't get the big contracts. It's crazy to look back now at what they were paid in comparison to now.

There aren't many Saints fans who know anything about those first few years. You have to be a real hard-core fan to know this early stuff.
