I think he will get a shot over the bye week to prove himself.

The team obviously doesn't trust Carney beyond 40 yards as they went for it on 4th down once and pooch punted another time, both FGs would have been less than 50 yards.

Edit: Although, the wind could have been a MAJOR factor in that.

he hasnt missed one in REGULAR season. also he is MUCH younger than carney and therefore could be an asset for much longer. im tired of the kicker carousel. we need to find a young guy that can stay awhile and not make us go through this every season

With the 32nd pick of the 2011 draft, the new orleans saints select Wes Byrum.

The Giants game could come down to a long kick. We need someone with a strong leg. I say keep both of them let Carney groom Hartley this year.

2011 draft? Don't you know the world will end after we win the superbowl this year. There won't be a 2010 draft, uncapped year, etc.

Hartley is 100% on his NFL career on all kicks (fg's and pat's)

Hartley is more accurate than Carney, has a stronger leg, and has 10 more years in front of him.

If hes not kicked out of the league by then for his blatant disrespect of the leagues rules.

Personally, I think they cut him. I think theyre comfortable with Carney and now that we know Moorestead can handle kickoffs, i think he's gone.

Also, if we needed a fg out of Carney's range they would prob let Moorestead kick it. He used to kick FGs in college

I disagree on accuracy. I know your goin to say hes never missed a regular season FG. But his sample size is much smaller. Carney is one of the most accurate kickers of all time. Carney did make the pro bowl last year, too.

Carney Honorable mention for best kicker of alltime

I dont think wed let morstead do fgs beyond carneys range. there has been no talk or indication of this whatsoever. so i really dont see payton being comfortable with that. carney doesnt have much left in the tank.
