I dont go to New Orleans without my gun, and it's fully loaded. I never intend to use it and hope I don't have to.
Unless Smith was shot while he was holding his gun,I don't see how self defense pans out here.i'm old school though, I'd much rather handle things with my head, and if that doesn't work out, my fists.

I'm upset as anyone about this and can't understand how someone could shoot someone in the back. But the law is the law. I'm not an attorney maybe one can post and shine some light on this. Louisiana is a stand your ground state. Meaning if you feel your life is in danger you have a right to defend yourself. That is Hayes' defense.

What would you do if someone pulls a gun on you. I'm not trying to justify the shooting now, im just asking personally what you do.

Thank you see this guy understands.

Is it your opinion that Smith pulled a gun?

Where has any reports stated from witnesses or officers that Smith pulled his gun? It's obvious that the police didn't see Smith's gun out in the open in his vehicle at the crime scene. This is why a search warrant of Smith's SUV was needed to begin with & why we are just finding out about it. Smith's gun was somewhere in a compartment of his vehicle meaning it wasn't on his person when he was shot.

Yeah, no. That isn't stand your ground. And it's a lot more complicated than that.

So Smith saying & having a gun in a compartment of his vehicle is reason enough for him to be shot & killed? Hayes shot Smith with 5-6 rounds. That alone is going to raise doubts about self defense.

Of course it's complicated. I heard that and threw it out for discussion. This is a message board.

I was asking for a reason I wasn't saying will smith pulled a gun. I'm asking if you have a gun on you and someone pulls one on you, what do you do?

OK smart arse. We all agree it's a fricked up situation and the mean thug should rot in prison. But please enlighten us with your knowledge of the law.

had they not found a gun, do you think there is any chance anyone believes Hayes plea for self defense?

Don't mind LE he stated in a thread that got deleted that he was related to hayes. He's trying to prove his innocence.

Jesus. Where the frick are you going down here that you won't leave your piece at home? I've managed to make it in this city for over 40 years and I have never even owned a gun let alone put one on my hip when I leave the house. I guess I'm the luckiest person on the planet.
