Lamar will still be in Balt either under a new contract, or tagged. But, if he were to somehow hit the market, he's the only one that would be worth traying to get in a bidding war for. Carr & Garoppolo will command too much money, and neither appear to be a long-term solution. IMO, their ceiling is the back-end of tier 2 QBs, and that would require the right coaching staff (which this team doesn't have).

Dalton is better than Simion, Minshew, Mayfield & McCoy. I think he's better than Darnold as well, but Darnold has some intangibles that may be worth considering. Dalton will also be cheaper than all except McCoy, which is important if this team is going to do a cap reset.

This team is in real trouble until we can get out of the cap issues and also find a qb.
We are going to have to let go of the past and just do this and get it down with in regards to the cap stuff. Three year rebuild with a new coach installed picking the qb of his choice the year he comes in. The same could be said of the GM being replaced and wanting their own coach. It may be tough to attract the right coach of the gm os dead man walking. It will also be hard to bring in free agents and a qb. If there is no money to spend then really the draft/development and really good scouting of who is on the free agency market. The top guys will go towards the qb.
I do think our whole division is in similar positions. Atlanta needs a qb. Tampa Bay will need a qb. We need a qb. Panthers need a qb. Going to be tough but who ever does it the best will come out in a few years. The next few years there will be no favorite in the division.

Either way, you are looking at a 2 year salary cap situation with him

Thanks but being honest as stated not as knowledgeable in cap implications, I'm making my statement from a fan standpoint. I we can afford to field enough players that are required, dump him as soon as possible. Like you stated with the this year or next, still eating cap for 2 years, personally I'd rather jump into brutal cap hell a year earlier than not being as bad next year though we still can't start rebuilding, it is st means Gayle Benson losing a little less of he 5.4 billion. Damn I should have been an interior decorator lol

I look at it as what is best for the team, not the owners bank account

Stay with what we have now for another year then address the QB position in the draft.
