We have AK, and we don't need another Armstead; who by the way, are NOT QBs

And the fact that at times when he played (not as much this year) he was a force.

He was invisible this year and was benched in favor of an udfa, but someone is going to break the bank on him?

Biggest disappointment is that he hasn’t developed any pass rush moves. He looks like he just tries to overpower his guy every time.

He’ll get a one year incentive heavy deal from us or someone else.

You seriously wouldn't trade a third for Derek Carr?? I think he's way better than the guys you have now especially if he had a good coach.

He won't have a good coach, so I guess this means don't get Carr.

Let's say we trade a 4th round pick for Carr. And lose Davenport for $16mil per year.

we lose a 4th but likely gain a 3rd in compensatory picks for Davenport since we didn't "SIGN" someone of equal value.

But let's say we just sign Carr. Then Carr and Davenport cancel each other out and we get no pick.

This is not even counting based on speculation that a trade for him would also reduce our cap hit.

We trade a 4th, get Carr, a 3rd and more cap room
VS
signing Carr, less cap room and no improved pick.

We are not trading for Carr. He will be cut..

Low iq poster that doesn’t understand the money side

Explain the "money side"

Carr has to re-work his deal if he gets dealt here or he has to sign a new deal if he's a FA. You think there's going to be a large delta in those 2 contracts?

LV is already eating the pro-ration on his signing bonus no matter what, in either scenario.

*ETA: is there some assumption that LV will eat some of his guaranteed money which will cause him to give us a deal, or something?

Why would he rework his deal? If he refuses to blink, Raiders pay 40 a year the next three years. Whoever trades for him would have the same issue. . If/when he gets cut, he’s the top available qb at the most important position in the league where there are 7-8 teams that desperately need a qb.

It’s gonna be blood in the water for sharks.

His base is like 32.9M. How do we fit that into our cap situation?

The new contract is for us, not him

Because he already has money, andhe wants to win. Plus, he can build a brand that's more lucrative if he wins. Think Brady, and to a lesser degree, Brees...

Wait so you think he's going to take below market money to go to New Orleans?

You think one 7-10 season has reverted the Saints back to being on Jets/Lions level?

No, but Brees didn't even take a discount for us. Why would Carr?

And my general argument is we need to revert to 3-14 Saints for a couple seasons until we can get our affairs in order, for the long-term sake of the franchise.

Signing Derek Carr is a perfect move to stay middling indefinitely. Evidence: his entire career.
