I agree I think we are good with the addition of Sanders. Wouldn’t mind adding another guy if the right one was available but we are in much better shape. When we played better teams we would struggle when they took Michael thomas away but with Sanders that should no longer be a problem. However I could see a benefit in bringing in another weapon plus Sanders will only be a short term solution.

I’m also not opposed to adding another defensive end. Being able to rotate ends that can rush the passer is valuable. You could also check one in as a 3 tech in clear passing downs. I like Epenesa but don’t think he is a fit for our defense. Would rather Matos from Penn State.

Would like to see us get a linebacker but I’m not as down on our guys as others. I don’t like Murray and don’t want to reach for a backer just to fill the position.

Yea, now that I think more about Gyno's post...we might have enough right now.

Thomas - #1 WR
Sanders - #2 WR
Cook - #1 TE
Kamara/Murray - RB

That's most of your targets. All you need after that is a #3 WR, & your #2 TE.

Josh Hill will get his usual, & we might even find a #3 TE this year.

Taysom, Tre'Quan, & Deonte Harris should be able to combine for decent #3 WR numbers. We could find a diamond in the rough or even draft a WR in the mid rounds.

I don't think it will happen, but Emmanuel Butler or Lil'Jordan could break out.

Agreed. He seems more fit for a 3-4 defense.

I think we grab a WR in the draft, just not with the first pick. I also think we add another vet LB, probably on a short, cheap deal. There are vacant snaps to be had at LB, on a good Defense, on a SB contender. I think it’ll appeal to a LB trying to establish their value

I think there is a good chance our first pick is used on either the OL or DL, with the caveat that a CB they like isn’t there

Taysom saw 4% in a very limited role, you’d assume he gets more looks.... more than trequan? Let’s call Taysom 7%. You’re at 84% of the targets.

While I ultimately agree with this, I think it only happens if we sign another capable backup for Brees. Similar to when Brees was out last year, I think we'd be more cautious with our use of Hill if he is the one and only backup

ETA: I agree with your overall point though. WR isn't a top need for this next year because of

A) the addition of Sanders
B) the learning curve most of our WRs go though in their rookie years (only two rookie WRs we've had in the SP era that was reliable from the start is Colston and MT. But that isn't the norm and shouldn't be expected)
C) the breakout of targets that you listed.

I think it’s a forgive conclusion they sign a capable guy. At least that seems to be what SP is alluding right

Fletcher doesn't even know who AJ Espenesa is. He just picked the name and position for clicks.

After thinking about a possible target share, ideally I think we'd want to be somewhere in this range

Thomas - 28%
Sanders - 20%
Kamara - 16%
Cook - 12%
Taysom - 8%
Latavius - 6%
Harris - 5% (de facto "field stretcher" as of now - will be on the field and run more routes for sure as of now)
Trequan - 3%
Josh Hill - 2%

Granted you'll see a FB and a 5th WR get a sprinkle of looks, and you could maybe trim a few from Taysom and Murray and sprinkle them elsewhere, but I think that would be a solid array of weapons to utilize in the pass game, each playing a specific role.

If we added a rookie, where does he fit in? Which current guy gets booted?

Hopefully in a manner where we won’t get our shite pushed in when talented defenses are allowed to play more aggressively in the playoffs.

Hell I don’t care if insert X player is a high volume guy yet, as long as his presence has to be somewhat accounted for. We desperately need someone with a real ability to accelerate up the field on the outside to compliment MT. Sanders is fine but he’s 33 with some pretty big injuries in his past and he’s definitely not a burner.

We’re fine for the beating up the crap of the league in regular season games. We’re VERY limited when it comes to being able to attack a good defense who is allowed to be a bit more handsy in big games. I’m sure we can fine someone to fill the Tommy Lee Lewis role of complete non factor though. This is Drew’s last ride and he shouldn’t be forced to elevate waiver wire fodder at the WR position.

And Cam had a 3 cone time that was better than most of the WRs at this years combine and all but one D lineman.

Sanders is a huge get man. He’s going to alleviate a ton of the pressure you’re talking about. A healthy Kamara is huge. Taysom looked great as a pass catcher to end the season and hopefully is integrated more. That’s almost like adding three guys

I think our OL and defense have been a bigger cause of our playoff collapses. That said, I’d still love to add another weapon. I’m just trying to figure out how or where and if they can even make an impact in Drew’s short window. It’s a deep draft so we can grab a burner type and work him in. I do think that’s the biggest need

Yeah don’t get me wrong I’m not clamoring for a rd 1 guy only. I just want to see us have one of these young guys that can split a defense or take a slant, cut it up and make defenders pay because teams are focusing on our primary guys. We need an explosive component. Sanders is crafty and polished as hell, but I want someone who can blow the lid off teams and make them pay for playing up at the line and trying to take MT out of the game.

Thankfully this draft is loaded at WR. We should be able to find a guy in rounds 3 or 4. Maybe even 5th round.

He will have about 285 mock drafts between now and the draft and then will tweet that he got the right selection @24 after the draft

I know I’m a homer but I think Moss makes sense.

He has better hands than Cook and actually blocks. Going to be an elite TE.

I think the most realistic chance of us drafting any LSU players would be in us getting either Clyde or Thad. Payton and Loomis have displayed in recent years that they are mostly concerned with drafting the best overall player. Considering that we will have to either pay Kamara or watch him walk after this year, I'd like to think we could find use in another running back. Peyton has shown that he isn't going to over pay for a RB anyways.

Unfortunately I don’t think he will ever be a star. He is 6’1 with average speed and athleticism. However he will be a good utility tight end that can do it all similar to Josh Hill. He will make a living blocking and taking the underneath routes given to him.
