just curious, didja get that done with 2 trades or more? The more ya trade the less realistic this thing works. See the first post in this thread to see what happens if you take every trade offered.

schoool classifies it as 'sex'....so its blocked, FAIL

agree fully, but as mentioned, need does play into the equation also.
Yea and regardless of what happens with Greer, I think CB is DEFINITELY on their 1st round pick radar. CB is a pretty deep class but where we're picking there's a few guys that might be off the board and we might be getting in the 2nd/3rd tier of cb talents. Not sure if it'll end up being BPA or not.

So far for me at CB...
I have Dennard and Verrett in the no way possible at all at #27
I put Gilbert next and still provide excellent value
The next group I don't see having the same value push but still could qualify if the need factor is higher with a Greer departure- Joyner FlSt, Fuller VT, & Roby OhioSt

After we sign Talib, this could really push our CB need down.

you ignored the affordability caveat in that thread

Hell no. It can be afforded without a doubt. If its viewed as a priority, Mickey can find ways to get shite done. We've signed many high tiered FA's past few years when we were in CAP HELL. If we let go of jabari, prob's gone, etc... i think they can create some dollars to throw at Aqib. Aqib will get a nice contract but he may not get a ridiculous deal w/ his history. He may enjoy playing with winning organizations.

Sean Smith to KC last year-
3/14/2013: Signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract. The deal includes $7.465 million guaranteed. Another $1.5 million is available through escalators. 2014: $3.45 million, 2015: $4.25 million
That's steep and Talib is a step up from that IMO

Roman Harper is either out the door or going to a 1 yr restructured deal. Malcom is a free agent. Lewis is signed to a fairly modest deal for his production. Jabari will be gone. All other cb's on roster are minimum type deals. Bush is a fairly cheap deal. We have the ability to afford more cap space to the secondary. Talib is worth it. Vaccaro got like 3 more years of his rookie deal. A 3 year deal for talib is ideal. It can be done. There are infinite number of ways to make shite happen.

We are experiencing those ways now. Will Smith counted near $8mil of cap in 2013 and will cost over $2mil to let go. Grubbs & Evans are over $20mil the next two seasons as they go beyond age 30.
Victor Butler was our big signing last year. That was a 2 yr $3mil deal. In the top 3-4 teams over the 2014 cap, I doubt they could afford much bigger than that this year. Old guys like Tillman, injured guys like Maclin, and less proven guys like Butler more likely fit the Saints budget.

Lewis bigger but he truly did give some hometown discount.
But even that deal, 5yrs $25.5mil, would be a harder reach with the 2014 cap situation.

Who would you pick if both were available at 27, Mosley or Shazier?

not really. he got a nice market value deal but mickey finds ways to make deals pretty good for us. Hawthorne, Bunkley, Lofton, Ben Watson, Zac Strief, Jabari, the list goes on good contracts Mickey finds ways to do.

Mosley is definitely ahead of Shazier on every board so far. For me the bigger question on both is 3-4 role and how an 3-4 ILB stacks up as a value on a whole. Both guys look like surefire 1st Rd backers in a 4-3. They don't look like the traditional thumpers inside how I envision 3-4 ILBs.
Khalil Mack and Anthony Barr look like they could be more effective as 3-4 OLBs that might be better fits for NOLA.
That said, with Butler coming back across from Juneyah I don't see a heavy OLB need. We're virtually stuck with Lofton & Hawthorne two more seasons. I think they just ride with them inside until they are cuttable.

I think hawthorne is cuttable after 1 more year. His contract isn't "that" bad and he would be our #5 backer and can play any position.

2015 Will cost $3mil of cap to save $3mil, prolly cuttable. Still not pretty taking $3mil cap hits for zero production every year.

6 to keep, 3 to cut... i think he either restructures or won't see 2015

Let's see how he plays. Might end up Pro Bowl keepable or Mosley might push him to the bench
