My only question is how much money did Dan Pastorini and the NFL players of his era contribute to the NFL players of the era that preceded him?
???
???
???

Well that is how much he should be entitled to from the current players’ pie.

No, Drew Brees can't see past the 7 figure salary he banks every year. Even if those guys had been conservative in their spending and saving...they'd still be borderline broke...would still not have healthcare...would still lack disability benefits.

You're an idiot. How about that dumbfrick get a real job after football instead of hawking gambling picks and other sleezy crap? Boo-hoo, widdle Dan has no money. He and all the other assholes who spent their lives fricking off can blow it out their asses. This goes for anybody in any field. I'm tired of morons thinking everybody else who has done "it" correctly owes them for their poor decisions.

And, I don't want to hear crap about dementia or broken down bodies either. They all knew it was dangerous and anybody with a few brain cells in their noggin could figure out that repeated collisions of the head could lead to problems down the road. Boxers 50 years ago knew about growing old and "punch drunk." Football players with a college education should have been able to extrapolate that to football if it wasn't obvious already. And, how many do you really think would have passed on a football career even if they were told specifically for 8 straight hours that they would have a significantly increased risk for dementia? None.

Yeah, they blew all that money. All those old players were just straight up ballin on those 10, 20, 30K contracts. God some of you people are f-ing morons. Screw Pastorini, this problem stretches beyond him.

But yeah, keep being ignorant. I'm sure they all blew their money and never worked afterwards. You really can't be that stupid.

They're entitled access to healthcare and disability, regardless of risk. Go ask any f-ing union in GD America. I swear, some of you people are so uninformed.

You act like every one of those players had a Caddy and made so much money, when in fact...salaries increased to unprecedented highs in just the last 20 years.

Are they entitled 100K pension? No. Are they entitled to healthcare and disability access. You're GD right they are.

No, you got 30 thousandaires up in here taking up for Drew Brees (NFLPA actually as a whole) because he won a Supa Bawl.

This is people's livelihoods and they all act like 98% of them sat on their arse after football when the majority were broke, only played a few years and suffered dibilitating injuries- and no they weren't all given medical care or disability. Pensions? They're entitled to what they contributed with kickers for inflation.

Funny, I find myself thinking the same thing after reading your posts.

I'm sure they weren't. But here in lies the crux of the issue: It's not about right and wrong, it's about envy.

"I didn't get all the money you're getting so I deserve to be compensated for 'paving the way' for your current success"

Makes me want to puke. Anyone with such an attitude is sub-human. Dan Pastorini and anyone else who thinks like this can eat shite.

Spoken like a typical union pussy. Everyone is owed something and no one has any responsibility for themselves. Was healthcare in perpetuity part of the contract they signed? If not then they can frick off and get it like the rest of us.

I didn't say they were paid exorbitant amounts but for their times they were paid well. And, considering that football was only a relatively brief period in their life, what the hell did they do during their 40's, 50's and 60's? Can I expect one of my former employers to pay for my healthcare 25-30 years after I'm no longer employed by them?

Yeah, I'll go do that right after I ask OJ's lawyer if he did it. I wouldn't ask a union shite. Those are the people who expect their members to get paid by companies long after they are let go because the job is over. Remember the GM "rubber rooms" where the members sat around all day doing nothing while still getting paid by GM?

You sound like an envious whiner who bitches all day long about how the "working man" can't get ahead. I generally feel sorry for people like you once I'm over my incredulity with regards to your mindset.

When they signed those contracts, as do players now, you do so knowing full well you could get seriously injured for life or even possibly lose your life playing this game. It's the risk you take by playing professional football.

No where in those contracts does it guarantee these men extra awesome medical coverage for playing in the nfl. frick them, they knew the risks. And if they didn't, too fricking bad.

Dude, you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm as anti-union as they come but these are circumstances beyond that. These old/retired players deserve access to the same health coverage provided recent retirees. Nobody said the healthcare was free but not even offering it?

Let me explain something to you about most companies and how their members get "vested" after a certain number of years. I could work almost any Fortune 500 company for 5-10 years, retire and walk away with some pension (the ones that offer a pension and haven't gone to strictly 401K contributions) and health benefits for the rest of my life. Will there be higher deductibles and plan rates, yes, but they're given access to subsidized insurance.

You're arguing about something with little perspective. Just yelling about a GM union that had people sit around in a Rubber Room. Some of you people are complete idiots and have little knowledge besides some "platform" you've decided to yell from.

Those retired players deserve health benefits and disability. Pensions should be on a sliding scale.

Yeah, I've got no problem being on the opposite side if your side is made up of people like this. Seriously.

So you're upset they're asking a multibillion dollar business made up an exclusive number of owners for health benefits and disability benefits. Yeah, so stop acting like they're stealing food from some Baby Breesus' mouth.
