I think it’s pretty easy to be a fan and rational at the same time. The award was Drew’s but if we’re being at all objective the offense shite the bed for about a month down the stretch and Drew looked pretty damn pensive at times.

Eh. Mahomes went 2-3 over the same stretch and had about 8 turnovers while Brees was logging division and bye clinching victories against historically good defenses. While Brees is taking a nap tomorrow, Mahomes will be fighting for a bye.

If it’s best player on the best team, Brees is still your guy.

The case for Mahomes is yards and TDs. He finished the season first in TDs with 50. Good enough to tie him for 2nd all time. In the final analysis he actually didn’t even win yards. Big Ben wins yards for this season. They both got over 5k.

Does getting 5k earn you an MVP? Asking for a friend.

Brees set an absolutely absurd 74.4% competition percentage, which will likely be the NFL record for Mahomes entire career (unless Brees decides to beat it next year). He also won the passer rating which is typically the measure of an MVP and most importantly lost 2 less games (against tougher competition). He is the best player on the best team and he should be the MVP.

Add on, if KC was in the NFC, they wouldn't even get a bye. They'd be playing wildcard weekend.

Whereas, Brees led the Saints to the NFL's best recorrd over the 2nd place Rams, who Brees beat and Mahomes didn't because of his 5 costly turnovers.

Look who Mahomes and the Chiefs lost to. He couldn’t win the big games and beat the top QB’s in this league. Brees should be the easy choice but likely won’t win it.
