If you were in Brees's shoes, would you not go for as much money as you can get?
Depends. If I take way less, can my team get another one or two really good players that can help us win a Super Bowl? For example, $3,000,000 for the year (plus endorsement money, and if I was Brees I'd have been saving money for years) is not bad, it's great.

When you negotiate your salary do you try to get every penny you can or do you take less money to help the company save on payroll? I don't even know why I'm asking you because a 15 year old clearly has never negotiated a salary contract but you get the concept either way.

Well I mean he's earned it

Drew Brees will have earned every penny of his next contract.
We wouldn't be in this situation if Loomis had any amount of self-control with regards to other guys he's paid not named Drew Brees

Possibly traded on draft day!

Actually the Saints have a great deal of leverage as well.
Drew has stated in the past how he feels about playing on a 1 year deal. If he wants to drag his heels negotiating this year...the Saints can do the same after they tag him again next off season while still lowering his current cap hit.
If Drew at the age of 37-38 likes playing on back to back 1 year deals then more power to him.
If he wants 1 final payday with guaranteed security then a long term deal is in everyone's best interest.

I believe Peyton Manning did something similar to having 1 year deals his last 2-3 seasons. I still believe that Drew will sign a deal around the same size as Joe Flacco's newest contract. Drew is working with the Saints, not against...

I remember a few years ago when JJ promised us CSP was leaving to go to Dallas.

Please tell me said he would never return if wrong?

And he should milk the Saints for every dollar he can considering he's the entire team. He deserves it especially when Johnny No-Name can make 18 million a year at QB and has proven nothing in the NFL. Brees never bitches about how some shitty arse backup QB in Denver can be paid an insane amount of money and barely qualify for his job. It's contract extension time and he deserves whatever he gets for never making a stink all these years about the bargain years we got him for.

You dip shits will be singing a different tune when he refuses to sign an extension, plays out his final year while financially raping the team, and then becomes a free agent next year and signs on with another team.
A realistic scenario.
A realistic scenario.

quote:Yeah, but if you were anything other than a useless tool, you would know that is not going to happen. How about if he signs an extension, you promise to never post here again. Go back to your crappy "articles" with the part time second rate fist wrap you work for.

quote:60/40 that it does happen. Drew is a great QB and is a Saints legend, but he is also a greedy mother fricker and if he can get one more huge payday before he hangs it up and becomes a corporate whore, i.e., politician, he will.
you would know that is not going to happen.

Lol and this is why Triplett now has a job at ESPN and you still work at Dunder-Mifflin New Orleans.

Everyone knows your Jeff Duncan. I understand you don't want to be Jeff Duncan...NO ONE "wants" to be Jeff Duncan.

All athletes are greedy. And you know what? Good for them, I don't fault anyone for trying to make money

Drew has all the leverage....
Good. Drew deserves to have all the leverage.
He threw for 4900+ yards in the last two seasons, he deserves to milk the Saints for every dollar he can get.
When he leaves, it may be another 15 years before a Saints QB throws for 4900+ yards.
Have a down vote, you unintelligent Saints fan.
