re: Drew Brees MVP this season?

Not hijack this thread but Rodgers should partially thank Olin Kruetz for winning the MVP last season.
Olin's poor blocking helped the Packers stuff Ingram on the goal line to end the season opener. If the Saints score there they would have had all the momentum going into overtime.
Secondly, when Kreutz returned from injury at Tampa he was down right awful. I can't recall ever seeing an interior lineman get dominated the way he did. With no running game because of penetration right up the middle & pressure in his face all day, Brees threw 3 picks including one in the endzone when Saints could have taken the lead.
If Brees & the Saints would have beaten the Packers & Bucs, they would have had the best record in the conference plus Brees would have won the head to head with the eventual MVP which would have given Brees the leg up for MVP consideration.
frick YOU Olin Kruetz!!!

I'm sure that's ALL you want to say about the matter.
I've said multiple times, its a toss up who's the better QB right now, Tom, Brees, and Rodgers all have partial claim to the throne.

I could care less who the better qb is. The elite qbs I. The league are Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, and Brees. Now what do the first 3 have that the last one doesn't?
I want my dam qb with an MVP trophy, if we don't win the ship then that's good enough consolation for me.

To only get a combined total of 9 votes in the 2 seasons he should have won, yes it's totally disrespectful.

Rodgers beat Brees head to head
I hate whenever people say this. Brees and Rodgers were never on the field at the same time, so technically, neither of them can win head-to-head. Just like Brees never beat Warner, Manning, Brady, etc head-to-head. Saying that, I don't understand why some fans seem to think Brees is clearly better than Rodgers, because he's not. I think it's pretty equal.
One thing I'll never understand on this board is the Patriots and Niners fan that lurk and jump to post in threads like this

Yeah, it is pretty shitty and disrespectful that he barely even got consideration last year and in '09, especially '09.

He should have won in 09 the media was just stuck so far up Payton's arse it was impossible for Brees to win it. Last year though was different, with Rodgers stats they way the were he was going to win it every time.

fair enough...Rodgers just had a better season overall then. And Brees is the sports hero I never truly had as a child.
but
quote:
Rodgers: 68.3% 4,643 45TD 6INT, 3 rush TD
is just crazy stupidly awesome

Yeah, I can see this. Don't really agree with it, but I can see it. Rodgers had an outstanding td-int ratio obviously, but Brees beat him in most other things, so I think it's a lot closer than some.

brees also played an extra game

Not if you look at per attempt numbers and averages...

Brees is better Here's why:
1) Matt Flynn
2) AR has the BEST receiving corps in football. Bar none.

If you look at 46 turnovers by his defense which gave him shorter fields and easier tds then that's irrelevent. Drew has to drive 75+ all the time thus more attempts.
