Some highlights

On Myles Jack: "His character doesn't read as clean as Clay Matthews' but he's more physically talented than Clay."

On Jaylon Smith: "Not the brightest cookie in the room," a third scout said. "Probably have to line him up. Now he's got the knee and he's not a very bright kid. I wouldn't touch a kid like that.

On Joe Schubert: "Shea McClellin comes to mind"

On Nick Kwiatoski: "Love to have him. Awesome kid. Little limited in up side and athletically."

On Blake Martinez: "Very smart player. He hustles."

On Antonio Morrison: "He's rough around the edges. Kind of in your face. He did some really stupid, immature things at Florida."

On Kyler Fackrell: Compared by one scout to former Saints OLB Scott Fujita. "He's smart (Wonderlic of 32) and understands."

On Tyler Matakevich: "Amazing awareness and nose for the ball, but size (6-0, 236) and speed (4.79) are lacking."

So, all the black LBs are dumb and have character issues, and all the white LBs are smart and hustle.

I mean I don't know the guy personally, but Jaylon Smith is super impressive in interviews. He seems like a smart guy to me.

Clay Matthews has been looking like a real POS lately as a player. Lots of cheap shots last year that just get swept under the rug.

Strange, that's the first I've ever heard of someone questioning Smith's intelligence

Same. Short of the injury, I haven't heard anything negative about Smith until now.

Kid went to Notre Dame...I question people questioning his intelligence anonymously.

If he was a dummy he could have went to several other schools that would have given him grades for play while still providing him NFL exposure.

Instead he chose a school known for their academics. There are people that think Marshawn Lynch is a dumb/thug...dude went to Cal and is very intelligent...although you may not think it by how he acts or carries himself.

Same thing I was thinking while reading that. The "anonymous scout" quotes are quickly becoming the worst thing about the draft process.

Said the guy who works for a team who wants Smith to fall.

My bet is this scout is some old white dude. He's probably about 65+ and from an SEC state.

You think Lynch is very intelligent? He thought the Bills played in NYC.

Joshua Perry - OSU

STRENGTHS: Only knows one speed with a nonstop motor which helps him make plays other linebackers cannot. Quick first step and long legs to cover a lot of ground in a little time. Plays smooth, not stiff, and easily opens his hips to redirect in coverage. Mature leader. Instinctive in man or zone coverage and comfortable with his back to the ball. Fills hard vs. the run and arrives with violence. Excellent timing and closing speed.

IN OUR VIEW: He is wired right for the pro game with the work habits and mental make-up that will quickly make him a favorite in an NFL building. Although not elite in any one area on the field, Perry is very well-rounded with the scheme-diverse skill-set and coverage skills that will make him a fit for all 32 defenses.

4. DEION JONES, Louisiana State (6-1, 221, 4.45, 2-3): Dynamic player in the kicking game as a backup to Kwon Alexander before becoming a starter at WLB as a senior. "He was the first guy down and was making all the tackles," an NFL special-teams coach said. "When I see guys like that I say, 'OK, that's the guy I want.'" Undersized but speedy and smart (Wonderlic of 28). "He's not that little," another scout said. "I'm not saying he's Ray Lewis but he is the same size. Very fast and explosive." Finished with 165 tackles (21 for loss), 5 sacks and 5 big plays. "He's kind of a novelty," a third scout said. "He'll have to play 'will' and be covered up. But he can really close to the ball. Great kid. Tough." Compared by another scout to Tampa Bay WLB Lavonte David. "He's a lesser version of (Darron) Lee," a fifth scout said. "He's not a complete guy." From New Orleans.

So.

street smart vs book smart, science major vs math major...just because you do not know something that seems basic to someone else does not mean you are incapable of learning or inferior in thought capacity to someone else.

I didn't say he was a genius.

Dont kid yourself. Notre Dame has a bunch of dummies on their football team, too. I've known a couple.
