And yet he played worse last year and still pulled a third from the 9ers as a rental.

He had 5 sacks in 7 games with Washington when he was traded. He also had 9 qb hits to his 12 this year. Yes I know he’s had muh pressures this year. But he was actually showing up in a tangible way on a shitty defense last season. Don’t think it’s really factual that he was playing “worse.”

One of the reasons you need to trade Young is that he is not in the teams future plans and there are young guys behind him that you have to see what you have. It is not like Young is getting home, so we need to play Turner and Foskey exclusively in that spot. I think they both suck, but you might as well get a bunch of game film on them for the next regime.

I would also look to trade the following guys if we can get anything for them and let young guys take their spots:

- Willie Gay Jr.
- Jamaal Williams
- Khalen Saunders
- Juwan Johnson
- Jake Haener

Even if we wanted to, we don't have enough for a fire sale. Just get max compensation for Latt and call it a day.

What teams do you think are lining up for any of the guys on this list?

I’m all for trading young. Even if it’s a 6 or 7.

I would think Young, Gay and Saunders would be enticing to some teams, as they are good enough to be starter/rotational pieces on a playoff team. Heaner if a team is looking for a young QB with some potential.

I don't think we would get anything of value for them, but they are all guys we could get rid of with minimal future cap hits.

You still need talent obviously, but we are REALLY void of it right now. By the time we're primed to compete again in 2-3 years, he will be post-prime or late prime at 30-31. Get something while you can.

We really need to rebuild everywhere.
QB: locked with Carr for 2 years
RB: locked with Kamara for 2 years
WR: Need to find a true #1 so we can use Olave in his best spot
TE: Need a TE1, Foster is a solid #2, Juwan can kick rocks
T: Have 1 secure guy in Fuaga, TBD still on Penning
G: Have 1 secure guy in Ruiz, need another G
C: locked with McCoy
- That's easily 4 positions (WR, TE, T, and G) you need solid staters

DE: you have 1 solid guy in Granderson and he isn't anything amazing
DT: you have 1 solid guy in Bresee and even then you still need 2 more
LB: you have 1 solid guy in Werner, 1 old guy in Davis who's showing age, so need one here too
CB: Say what you want, without lattimore you have 2 huge question marks. Adebo may never recover. Taylor looks better fit for nickel or safety. TBD on Kool-Aid.
S: Mathieu is old. Howden is underwhelming in more action
- You need someone at all 5 positions.

We really need to clean the cap without spending, that's 1 part
Other part is you need to hit on at least 3-4 starters per draft for the next 2 years while the financial reset occurs
Then you can fill out and try to contend in 2026.

Even if we trade lattimore before the 2025 season, we will have $31.6 million of dead cap for 2025.

And a KC vs Washington bidding war could greatly increase the return compensation!
I wouldn't count on KC bidding hard for Lattimore. Latt is arguably a CB1, and KC already has one of those. Of course, they need somebody on the other side of the field, given that they traded Sneed and lost their starting CB2 for the year, and their CB3 is now injured.

That said, though, Veach and Co. have done an exceptional job with the KC roster over the years by NOT overpaying for vets unless absolutely necessary. Given the trade deadline is tomorrow, I don't see them overpaying for Latt if they think they can pick up someone else that's serviceable - after all, KC's front seven on D have been playing EXTREMELY well this year, and it's not like Nazeeh was the next coming of prime PatPete. Their current CB2 is now third-year vet Joshua Williams - who may be no better than the guy he's replacing.

More likely Washington will gun for Latt as their CB1, and the Chiefs will look for another, lower-priced vet for depth to get them through the rest of the season. After all, if they only have one sore spot on defense for an opposing offense to pick on, they can scheme around it - something the Chiefs and Spagnuolo do very well.
