If we had drafted a rookie QB, or were unable to acquire a solid vet, then DA would have that as an excuse to get another year or two.

He doesn't have it. We have acquired a QB and paid him 100mill+.

I see that as part of the positives of Carr. If DA cannot cut it this year, if they fall on their face, he is gone.

And if that happens, having a respectable qb would make finding a capable HC easier IMO

Yes this is true, but what happens when we go 10-7 and one dump in the playoffs? Then he gets another year and repeats, then another, then another…

Good point indeed. The FO won't have a choice but to can him if he can't win double digit games this year.

Might have been their master plan all along (sarcasm is hard to read through text so here is a disclaimer).

If he goes 10-7 and makes playoffs, he should be back

Are you content with existing like the Minnesota Vikings or Dallas Cowboys? Teams that should be in the NFC Championship every year but cant because of coach choking or incompetence. Loosing in the first round almost every year?

You should want your organization to be like KC. I dont know if that is possible with DA.

I personally think that Allen is the worst coach in the NFL.

By a wide margin. He's Nathaniel Hackett level terrible.

Should have been fired midway through last year like Hackett.

It's not unheard of to get rid of a coach after a half decent year. We can all hope that's what happens next offseason and a franchise changing coach becomes available. There aren't many Andy Reids in the world unfortunately. He had just as much to do with the KC turnaround as Mahomes.

I guess you have a higher opinion of the saints' team than I do. I think they're the favorite in the NFC south, and they'll be in a dogfight in the playoff game. If Allen gets the saints to that playoff game, he was in no way unsuccessful, and wouldn't deserve to be fired. If you think the saints are a Super Bowl contender, then I suppose 10-7, playoff team is a failure

So the saints kept him after going 7-10, but you think there's a chance they'll fire him after going 10-7 in playoffs? Seems pretty unrealistic, and to be frank, unfair to me

Perhaps. The saints have the talent, I guess I really think they should be. Top 10 Defense, with weapons on O, and a solid line. Coaching is the only thing left to blame.

Even with Dalton last year, this team had more talent then half the teams in the playoffs.

Given the circumstances, they threw him a bone. I don't see the same leash after this season.

incoming excuse for DA - well it takes a QB more then one season to fully learn the play book, "just wait until next year"

Yeah I’m sure all of the top candidates will be falling all over themselves to get to New Orleans to coach a franchise going downhill with a mediocre qb who just got his coach fired. Attractive job.

So what’s the point of going out and getting someone like Carr if you are just praying to win 10 games and keep one of the worst coaches in the league? That seems like a terrible future.

To get to the playoffs. That's the goal of every team, and carr greatly raises the chances of that for the saints.

I don't understand you debbie downers. Would a 10-7 season be a success? Absolutely. Just get into the playoffs and see what happens. You can't win jack shite without making the playoffs.

I want to follow a winning team. I spent enough time planning for the draft in October. frick all you bottom out and hope clowns. We are primed to own this division for at least the next 3 years. If DA gets us 3 division crowns, he deserves to stay.

I don’t understand people who would rather stay right in the middle every year and win nothing, rather than take a year or two to fix the cap and turnover the roster. I guess when you have a shot at a league average qb, you just can’t pass on that.

The only thing Dennis Allen has ever shown as a head coach is that he shouldn’t be a head coach. But yeah let’s squeak out a couple NCF South Champions flags in a terrible division and keep him around for a few more years just continue to ignore and push back the inevitable.
