Same reason he can’t see we gave up slight more for Vele due to his cheap contract.

We actually gave up less. Pickens cost a 3rd (they got a 5th for a 6th swap which doesn't cover the value difference of a 3rd and a 4th) and Vele a 4th, and we got Vele dirt cheap for 3 years. Meanwhile Pickens needed a new contract this year, and WRs are going for insane amounts.
Sure, Pickens is obviously the better player, but he also needed to be paid, and we already have one of those.
