I lived in San Francisco in the 80s while in the Navy and found it and increrible place. If you saw so many homeless and people defecating in the street then you went to different areas than I did.
It's just impossible to find a reasonably priced place to live.

SF Homeless activity was pretty minimal in December. Some pockets in the tenderloin, but not as bad as even SLC where I currently live.

I can assure you one thing...while it's not the best city in the world San Fran is miles better than the shite hole of the US in New Orleans.

I lived in near San Francisco and Marin and the east bay. Over 12 years and I f****** hated it. The weather is horrible. It never thunderstorms it only drizzles on your head and gets gray like depressing Seattle weather. it's too windy and all the water is cold and you need a wet suit just to go into a lake. It's expensive and the people are fake and pretentious and even the ones in Berkeley think they're so accepting that they won't accept you unless you're just as accepting as they are. They're full of s***

I'm not from there and no it's not. You have bad parts of the city like any other city but it's still miles better than the shite hole that is New Orleans. Almost any major city is an upgrade over NO. Almost.

You didn't live there. San Francisco is horrible. At least New Orleans has a soul. San Francisco is the fakest City in the f****** United States and it's full of crackheads and dirty hippies. And pretentious 49er fans or gang bangers. Just stop talking. You hate New Orleans and that's on you.. it has nothing to do with San Francisco that place is disgusting and you don't know what you're talking about

Not on vacation, never want to vacation there. Strictly work, and I was all over the place. Been all over this country and San Francisco is one of the worst "hands down". It was nice 15 years ago, there has always been rude people there, but now it is full of homeless. Plus expensive to do anything there. I don't know how people living there do it ?
Chicago is probably close to being that bad. Portland is weird and I can't imagine living there. A lot of dudes there wear wool caps and it's 95 degrees outside??
I bet it was still nicer than Bourbon…or even the Garden District, for that matter.
