Man I thought at the beginning of the offseason our DL was gonna be a weakness on the team, and then we let guys walk and brought in Saunders and Shepherd via free agency, two career backups, and decided to roll with Granderson opposite Cam.

We obviously spent early draft capital on Breese and Foskey,

But hell… it seems like so far all those decisions have been correct (Foskey still tbd). Granderson looks elite, Breese has been amazing so early on, and Saunders and Shepherd have helped us be dominant vs the run and push the pocket.

Imagine how the DL would look if Davenport and Turner hadn’t been busts

Let’s see if they can get after Love and Baker

Most people forget, but the last couple games last year, the coaching staff was starting Granderson over Davenport. And he played pretty good then. Turner looked much improved in the pre season and reports out of training camp. Shame he got hurt.

Was not super high on the Fosky pick but he may still pan out in a couple years.

Really need a third pass rush specialist with Turner hurt and Fosky not ready. Said in another thread I hope we can trade for Yannick N. The bears are horrible and will want to sell off pieces at the trading deadline and he’s under a one year contract so he will definitely go and shouldn’t cost much to get. Plus we should only have to pay half his salary by then.

Not a DE but Bressee is that guy at DT. He was expected to start off as a 3rd down rusher but is getting reps on 1st and 2nd too.

quote:

PFF’s pass-rush win rates for rookie defensive linemen (min. 40 rushes):

1. Jalen Carter (19%)
2. Will Anderson (13%)

3. Bryan Bresee (8%)
4. Byron Young (6%)

5. Tyree Wilson (0%)

Bresee only playing 43% of the defensive snaps for now. 76% of them has come on passing downs

They're a unit who's sum is greater than their parts.

Granderson is a dog though.
