Saying Cooks is bettervthan Landry is just....wrong. Landry not only has better numbers across the board, but he has a waaaaay less talented QB throwing him the ball. And Jarvis became a leader on that team immediately, a guy who was more concerned with winning football games than about getting targets.

Explain how Landry has better numbers, because it's extremely difficult to compare a pure slot WR against almost a pure deep threat.

Jarvis has more catches and more yards but less touchdowns with a guy throwing to him that is leagues worse

It doesn't take a lot of skill to throw the ball 6 yards down the field. Landry rarely if ever goes deep, and runs the prototypical slot receive route tree. Those aren't exactly insanely difficult throws for Tanny.

I also enjoy you not posting the most telling stat, targets. Landry got 166 targets in 2015. That is freaking bananas usage for a non-elite WR. If you put Landry on a team with other halfway decent WRs, he's not getting that sort of usage and his stats would fall.

Cooks has a higher yards per game, yards per catch, TD rate, all on 100 less targets over their career. Not that it really means too much, because they are completely different styles of player.

I'd probably be willing to bet that virtually every team in the league would take Cooks ahead of Landry.

The only WR out of that group that has an argument for being better than Cooks is Landry. I'd have Cooks over him, because he has more to his game. The toughness from Landry makes it at least a debate.

Those other guys... no chance in hell are they anywhere near Cooks.

Cooks missed like half of his rookie year.

He was headed toward an 850+ yard season. 1k+ if you include rushing

Agreed, Landry does not take plays off and the dude will go get the ball if he has to. He's a man.

Landry reminds me of Steve Smith without the bad attitude.

Dude has had multiple run ins with offensive players, was fined 48k for "offensive TD celebrations", fined 24k for an illegal hit on Aaron Williams, and various other minor offenses. He's basically Steve Smith without the sound bites.

yep, that's what I meant. No way Smith says this afterwards:

"I apologized," Landry said, via the Bills' official website. "I just told him to get better. You never want to see that happen to anybody. ... If I could take that hit back, I would. It's a guy's livelihood."

Oh ha. Steve Smith would have just told him to ice up, son.

I still remember Smith, with like a broken shoulder, going after Roman Harper.

Harper deserved it, too. But, he actually ended up going after Malcolm Jenkins instead lol

...and the Saints spread it around more.

From a pure stats perspective, Cooks has outperformed Landry.

If you want to make a case that Landry with Brees would have outperformed Cooks with Brees, go ahead. That's a reasonable opinion. But placing more importance on total catches and very slight yardage advantage over a 3 YPC advantage with double the TDs makes you look foolish.
