If so that is 100% what is going on right now and why he got involved with all 3 teams in the division to drive up his contract price.

He likely already knows where he wants to go and is negotiating Money and it is why he went to Atlanta last (his first choice). If this is the case then Matt Ryans remaining contract is a big part of this and they have to find a trade partner behind the scenes to commit to his extension. Look for any news involving Matt Ryan but we are still in this race if we can get close to the number that he wants.

Trading or releasing Ryan would leave a dead cap hit of 40M on Atlanta. Adding the 8M cap hit being floated in Saints talk would put their QB cap commitment at 23%. I just don’t see how they make that work without gutting their team.

I believe that those numbers are with his restructuring in place but that has not been finalized. Moving him frees up 8M rather than adding dead cap as far as I understand. I hope that I am wrong tho.

Looks like they are about to fail to trade Ryan by 4 then follow the money trail to the Saints.

Ryan has to agree to the trade, if not then there is nothing they can do.

I don't think that Watson will be able to go to Atlanta for the money he wants unless they can successfully trade Ryan.

Maybe the Saints can offer the money he wants but he truly wants to go to Atlanta as his first choice. In the end he wants money and will follow the money.

If Ryan is traded to Indy, it could help us by really dropping Winston's market

He does. Also its repot that the Falcons have kept Ryan in the Loop the whole tome while the other teams have kept quiet. They had to approach Ryan first because of his no trade clause, not because they are the most ethical team involved.

Dan Graziano:

The Saints aren't creating $30m in cap space unless they know something. Said they will have to absorb his $35m cap figure for 24 hours then can be restructured. (The extra $5m in space is likely covered by outgoing players.) The restructured contract would lower the $35m cap hit to create room for other players.
