No, that's why I was asking.

Don't be afraid to answer your own questions.

Chris Fowler of ESPN just said that the report is completely false.
The Heisman trust is discussing it... but NO vote or formal meeting has happened.

So did Ben Johnson. Should he have not been stripped of his gold medal? What about the Chinese womens gymnastics team? The Americans got the gold after it was determined that the Chinese used ineligible athletes. What's the difference? Letting cheaters keep their awards will only encourage more cheating.

What would happen if Reggie knew they were going to vote to strip him of it, but he gave his copy to the Boys and Girls Club of New Orleans in a public ceremony this weekend as a gift to offer inspiration to kids who were raised in a setting similar to the one he grew up in?
That would be pretty badass. I don't think the Heisman committee would have the balls to take it back then.

They cheated by using substances to enhance their performance.
Reggies "cheating" (I would call him a freedom fighter for athletes who have been exploited by the NCAA for profit for decades, but that's a different thread) had nothing to do with his on-field achievements.

What about the Chinese gymnasts? They used athletes that were ineligible based on their age. They were retroactively disqualified and the second, third, and fourth place teams were moved up. What's the difference here?

If I were him I would tell the Heisman Trust to frick off. I wouldn't give it back to them. What they gonna do? Come to his house and take it
