I saw him flip his wrist to get the ball out and avoid a sack.
If he wasn't "in the grasp" it was a lateral pass.

The NFL rule book defines the " Core Requirement for a forward pass " :
"A pass is a forward pass if the ball moves closer to the opponents goal line after leaving the passer's hand".

The ball went backwards after leaving the passer's hand. Once again the referees screwed the Saints.

And Mike Herrera is full of shite as usual

Not even an intentional grounding call since there were no receivers in the area

What drives me crazy is his arm had not yet even begun a passing motion forward in the slightest. His arm got knocked in the direction that looked like a pass when he got sacked, plus It went backwards
