As a Saints fan for over 30 years, I can say that I've reduced my expectations-last season

Few and far between, I remember loses like yesterday, over the prior 15 seasons (2006-2020) when Brees was my quarterback, hurt worse.
They hurt worse because I legitimately knew we were mostly better than that, and I knew as a fan, that we needed to win (a championship) while a player like Drew was our quarterback. Why? Because they just don't happen that often and could be that player of a lifetime.
All that to say and justify what's in the subject. Yesterday would have not settled for me so easily if I didn't already expect us to deliver the way we did. It's not all on Jameis Winston, but a lot of it is.

Hiring a Sean Payton and landing a Drew Brees seem to be the exception, not the rule for New Orleans. This is just the return to normalcy.

Yeah, there are people here who don't really understand what it was to be a saints fan. If you have been a fan for 35 years then you have been a fan during the Benson ownership which included the 3 best coaches the saints have had plus Ditka. The John Mecom years were just awful.
The Saints have had 2 coaches with winning records and all of those have been in the last 35 years.
Here is a list of coaches who cached at least 1 full season by winning percentage.

hard to believe that Bum and Dick Nolan had a better winning percentage than Ditka.
NVM Ditka was godawful.
