Carrs contract is basically 3 years 100 million
Not after the restructure this off season
It's not even there after the restructure last offseason. It was a $150M contract, and only ~$7M has counted against the cap. The team is still on the hook for $143M over the next 3 years, $47.7M/year.
And if the person you were responding to was thinking about how the team has an out in 2026, that basically went out the window with the restructure. But for argument sake, that would mean it would be a $92.8M contract for 2 years, $46.4M/yr, including the ~$30M dead cap hit in 2026 (until he's restructured this offseason).

H2H means nothing to me. Who cares if Minshew has beaten Carr before? Baker is undefeated against Burrow, does that make Baker better than Burrow? Minshew is a backup level QB.

With the restructure, his 2025 cap hit is now over $50M, and his dead cap is almost even, so cutting him will not help our terrible 2025 cap situation.
He'll then be restructured (or extended) and we'll have 4 years of him, min (but more than that, likely)

Carr is also close to backup level

Not sure what that means but technically Carr got 'replaced' by Minshew
Carr played for the Colts in ‘22?

He had the 10th best passer rating and was top 10 in numerous other stats. You just don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not arguing that he’s the answer or anything but he’s certainly not the problem like a lot of yall think he is.

Close?
What are y’all watching? The dude is dogshit trash.
He’s a mid level clipboard holder at best.
He’s Andy Dalton. He’s Blaine Gabbert.
He sucks.

You're cherry picking one stat to prove your point. I've looked at all the stats. Jake Browning and Mason Rudolph are both top 10 and ahead of Carr in passer rating. Off the top of your head I bet you have no idea how passer rating is calculated.

The Saints need to find their own Gardner Minshew.
But this kind of find is an outlier….. similiar to winning the lottery.

When you add an attempts qualifier those guys get removed and Carrs positioning in rating gets better. I’m not really cherry picking, most people agree that’s the best metric to go off of as it compiles pass attempts, completions, passing yards, touchdown passes, and interceptions into 1 stat which admittedly isn’t always the best way to look at it.
I’m not trying to defend Carr as the answer like it may seem. I’m just pointing out that he’s nowhere near as bad as many of the people on this board think he is.
Also, if you take the last 4 games of the season which is the same amount of games Mason Rudolph played, Carr is number 1 in a lot of stats. He was playing well at the end of the year which is why some people at least have some optimism about what he can do for us. We just need him to be average/slightly above and hope our defense can do the rest.

He’s not the problem at all. The problem is they paid him to be an answer when there were too many other problems both roster wise and financial. He’d be ok if we had the cap flexibility and rosters of other teams. He’d be ok if we could’ve moved off the deal quickly like other teams could. But we’ve lived on credit for so long we now can’t and we’re stuck with an aging mid qb while we descend through purgatory.

I'd rather have Dak than any of them
