Leonard won't help this team. Our OL will be worse next year than this year. Evans and Streif will probably need to finally be replaced. Jury will still be out on Project Peat!! I think we will have to go OT.

People can't say cut Ingram or he sucks and not think Fournette would help. Sign a free agent guard and we have a very good line with Armstead, Peat, Unger, and Streif.

Lets see what we do in Free Agency first. That will give everyone a better Idea what position we might target during draft.

We need a pass rusher way more than we need an OL or RB.

Allen, Rankins and Jordan? I can dig that.

I hope you do. The Saints will underutilize him and he won't fare well with that OLine. As a Falcons fan, I'm all on board with this move.

However, I would HATE if the Saints got J. Allen or even a Tim Williams from Bama. Either of those guys to go along with a healthy Rankins at DT and Cam Jordon on the opposite DE would make your Dline extremely tough.

This is the correct answer of course but it would lead to a drop in around 420 threads and about 6,300 post

I like Allen a lot. Big enough to stop the run & can also get to the qb. The only concern is that he plays in a 3-4 at Bama, but truly elite players can usually make the transition.

Not at all. They "technically" run a 3-4 but it's a 4-3 50% of the time as Tim Williams gets down in a 4 point stance as a DE frequently. The other 50% of the time he's standing at the DE position and either blitzes or drops in zone.

Wait what?

4 but it's a 4-3 50% of the time

Ok, so then a good bit and certainly "not at all".

I'll take your word for it, b/c you watch Bama a lot more than I do. I usually watch about 1 quarter a game when they play. I'd be perfectly happy with Allen, but he won't be standing up at all in the Saints defense & probably won't drop into coverage at all either. We need someone that can do the same thing that Cam Jordan does.

I've seen Tim Williams projected to go pretty high in the draft as well. Is he just a pass rushing specialist or can he stop the run as well? Someone will take him in the 1st, but I hope it isn't the Saints if all he can do is get to the qb. 1 trick ponies shouldn't be taken early in the 1st. More like late 1st round at best...like Bruce Irvin when the Seahawks drafted him.

Kinda phrased it poorly on my part but he was saying with certainty that his concern was they only run a 3-4 but that's not always the case.

I think you got my point just splitting hairs.

Allen > Williams in my opinion.

Allen can do it all and is heavier to my knowledge. Tim Williams has more speed and is slightly thinner but is purely a sack specialist unless the RB just runs right into his arms. However, Williams can cover some TEs and all.

And I'd think he'd be a great fit, especially with the meltdown this board would have

Allen has like 40 pounds on Williams. Tim Williams would get his shite pushed in trying to stop the run at DE in the NFL. Allen should be able to more than hold his own at 290 pounds.

Myles Garrett will be gone by the time we pick, & Allen could easily be gone as well. Derek Barnett(265 pounds) from Tennessee is the other DE that we should target in the mid 1st round(I assume our draft position in the 1st will be around 10-15). I'd be very happy if we could get either Allen or Barnett.

The addition of a legit DE would complete our DLine. Assuming the Saints re-sign Fairley, to go along with Rankins, Davison, & Onyemata at DT...look out. Also, add Kikaha to the mix as a pass rusher.

We also need another LB to go alongside Robertson. If we can stay healthy at DB for a change next year...this could be a legit defense for us.

I don't disagree. He doesn't even excel at it in College. He's definitely not asked to stop the run at bama though. His forte is pass rush and his technique dominates guys that outweigh him by 80+ lbs.

ETA: Just imagining the Saints with Rankins at DT, Allen and Jordan at DE. Ugh. No thanks.

Take back everything I've said. Allen sucks. He's terrible. Worst player in CFB. He's a total bust.
