Tracy Porter was way out in butt frick Egypt and had to be police escorted to the stadium and still held the team picture up for over an hour.
Charles Grant got charged with fricking manslaughter and he didnt get the boot until they were tired of overpaying him

What a bunch of retards. Guy's human and was looking forward to playing with a former teammate. I'm sure he's feeling some pain. Cut the dude some slack already.
he hasn't even played a down for the Saints yet and now he is running his mouth about an organization that is paying him.
Not a good way to start your new career

Maybe he isn't being negative, as some of you seem to think.
He says that he already knew that was the way that some teams work. Perhaps that's why he signed with the Saints, because the current organization is a "no bullshite" operation that will hold players accountable and is constantly re-evaluating itself and its personnel while striving to improve. They saw that McCray wasn't necessary, so they let him go NOW, when he can still shop his wares to other teams, rather than later when his options are more limited.
Maybe the culture on the Bears wasn't as driven or strong as our environment, which may be why he was happy to leave.

Yeah but he wasn't pulled from the game because he was supposedly blowing assignments was he? There are big differences between being late as opposed to being late and unprepared.

And they wait until mini camps and OTAs are over to cut him when they couldve done it way earlier to give the guy a chance to get into camp with another team
Read the other thread that I posted this morning. Every year, teams use mini camps and OTAs to evaluate veterans at least as much as, if not more than, rookies, and make decisions at that point.

One afternoon, maybe a month or two ago, Kirwin suggested that after the draft but before training camp many veterans would be released. He explained that what happens is that during the OTA's and mini-camps teams are able to see (on a limited basis) what they have. Many focus on rookies, but you don't learn much there. What really stands out is his assessment of what happens with veterans. Teams see where an older vet is physically after a few months off. So what you have now that almost all minicamps and ota's are completed is a fair evaluation of what your team has/needs at each position heading into training camp.
Take any position and give a grade to each player on the roster who can play that position. This grade takes into account what the player did last year, the players age and injury history, cost vs production analysis, and how the player looks in the OTA's. Maybe a veteran hit the proverbial wall with age. Maybe the young player who should have taken a step forward took two backwards. Maybe everyone stood pat, but when compared to what teams in your division did to exploit the position match-up wise, standing pat isn't good enough.
Regardless, a GM takes that grade and looks at all options either on the open market or available for trade. And if free agent x grades out better, does his cost match what you believe he would give you on the field? If it does, would bringing him in hinder the development of a younger player. For example, if a veteran who would come at a cheap price could only give you slightly better production than an inexperienced younster, is it worthwhile, does making that move really make you better in the long run? Is it worth keeping a veteran whose production could be replaced at a cheaper price or whose production doesn't match his price? If the player would definately upgrade the position and start, does are his contract demands viable when taking your cap, his "shelf life", and future contracts you need to get done into consideration?
Kirwins biggest point was that in all these evaluations this year with its unique circumstance of being uncapped would lead to many veterans in the next month being cut-- a trend that goes against most of our logic about an uncapped year. He speculated that once these camps broke, many veterans would get walking papers. McCray is a good example of this. But this soon to be influx of veterans on the open market will provide teams with more of a chance to fill a position that wasn't adequately addressed in FA and the draft. Kind of like the June 1 cuts of past years.

Nothing shady about what they did. it is a business. Why waste money on a guy that is not earning his keep, especially when they have Mr Potential (Galette) waiting in the wings

This thread is funny. I'm sure Alex Brown was pissed that the Saints cut a player before his bonus was due, considering every team in the NFL does the same thing.
