Why do so many people think highly of Bighill? They cut him b/c they knew he wasn't going to make the final 53 & they would rather stash 1 of the younger LB's on the PS.
He's basically an under-sized & athletically limited LB that plays special teams in the NFL. It took the coaches all of 3 days to cut Bighill & Mauti after they got a look at KeShun Freeman & Colton Jumper. Jayrone Elliot is also a special teams guy.
It looks like we're trying to get younger & more athletic on special teams.
