re: "AD isn't a good fit for our offense"

I think it benefits Peterson if he were to come in, be a role player instead of some MVP-type. I think he wants a title, wants a great QB and a potential to extend his career. He doesn't have to be the AP of old. Just needs to come in, contribute to a championship while he still has the ability. Again, it has to be at the right price. Also, him being much closer to home may be a factor that weighs on him.

Agreed. And he can help us too. The Saints best offenses 09 and 11 were juggernauts because they also ran the ball. AD gives us another horse in the stable, and we desperately need one behind Ingram right now

Oh he won the rushing title his last full season? That's pretty cool. What did he do in the seasons before and after? He combined to play 4 games. He's going to be 33 next season, coming off ANOTHER knee injury. After averaging 1.9 YPC before getting hurt. Yeah, sounds primed to come in and replace Ingram as the starting RB.

And Mark Ingram has been a beacon of health, right?
NFL running backs are the most injury prone athletes in sports due to the hits they take. You're lucky to make it out of a season without injury so you need a plan B. If the price is right, you could strike gold with AP on your team.

Absolutely and the guy who said he'd play the hightower role is absolute jokes. Ingram instantly and rightfully so becomes the backup.
What makes you so sure that AD is the same RB he was 2 years ago? RBs usually experience a steep decline in quality of play once they hit 31-32. Also if he's back to his usual elite self (or anywhere close to it) like you're so sure, why aren't more teams lining up to sign him? Because at this point he knows no team is going to give him $6-8M and he has to sign much cheaper.
Some of you love to hate on Ingram for no reason.

THat's flawed logic.
It's more often that RB's face a steep decline after they reach 3,000 carries than once they hit 30's.
I think the only thing that's holding AP back is probably the fact he still wants to be THE guy and be the No. 1 back and all of the conteders just don't see that.
He can go be the No. 1 guy for the 49ers and have no ring, or swallow his pride, split time and get a ring with someone. I think that's the real reason he hasn't been signed.

I think that's the only reason he's interested in us. He knows he would only ever be a role player in our system, so if he comes here he's apparently ok with that.
And if he ends up being not the player he was, so be it. Make his contract as incentive laden as possible

I imagine a 6'11", 250 lb man with incredible athleticism and coordination would make an insane red zone target.

No way he gets anywhere near 8mil.
This is the situation with NE. Burkhead signed a one-year, $3.15 million deal...to go along with Dion Lewis, James White, & Brandon Bolden(who they just re-signed).
This also happened yesterday...CSN New England's Michael Giardi reports free agent LeGarrette Blount has "an offer on the table" from the Patriots.
Giardi added both sides want to reunite, but money is the sticking point. Blount undoubtedly wants a raise on the $1 million he made while rushing for 18 touchdowns last season, but no team has been willing to meet his asking price to this point. He may have to settle for another low-cost deal from the Pats, who will have a logjam at running back if Blount re-signs.
NE probably offered AP chump change. NE is about the worst place for him to go to. He also visited Seattle & their interest vanished after they signed Lacy to a 1 year, 5.5 mil deal. Seems like he wants to go to a contender based on his visits.
About 3 mil, our lack of depth(guaranteed carries), & his confidence in us being a contender could sway him in our direction. I'd take him for 3mil. It's a win for both AP & the Saints imo.

Looking like Blount is going to re-sign with NE. Per rotoworld...
Jim McBride of the Boston Globe expects the Patriots to re-sign free agent LeGarrette Blount "sooner rather than later."
CSN New England reported Saturday that the Patriots have offered Blount a deal. Blount was seen hugging owner Bob Kraft at Wednesday's Celtics game. The 30-year-old hoped cash in after leading the league with 18 touchdowns last season, but his market didn't develop the way he thought. Blount is a one-dimensional role player whose best fantasy prospects remain in Foxboro.
